The Joey Daccord passport thing still pisses me off, because I have a ton of his cards in my Senators collection and had dreams of buying a small cottage after he stole the tournament for us.

I think I read that lineups had to be in very early. I don't think Montembeault gets in if they have to submit the lineups closer to the tournament. Maybe they should have let teams keep a wild card pick for goalie, because it's the one position where so much can change in such a short period of time.

This is an NHL tournament and the maximum amount of elite NHL talent should be playing imo. And the games should be as competitive as possible.

And if team Canada or team USA is going hard you think team Europe would just lay down and take it? They'd want to play spoiler just as bad and actually have a chance.

Right now team Finland is going up against 4 world class lines and their best d is Lindell.

I can guarantee you I would have zero interest rooting for team North America

But yeah it wouldn't work because of "national pride"... and they would all complain that Russia, Canada and USA wouldn't have to split.



Oh yeah, he would look very good playing with that kind of talent

This is when Russia can shove their "national pride". They can play on Team Europe though.

After Team Canada lost to the Americans we were told they didn't have enough skill? I completely agree with you, but this board goes back & forth depending on wins & losses all the time.

First, I'm not of the mind the Canadian team doesn't have enough skill. Second, the Fins are most definitely not the Americans.

Canada is going to have to be much better on Thursday and hope that they get some puck luck.

Agreed, the US has to get by Sweden & crazier things have happened in international play.

Right, of course, but I meant even if Sweden wins, US makes the final as does Canada. It's a pointless game essentially as the final is decided.
 
We could barely keep a 4-1 lead against what is arguably the weakest team in the tournament. Not impressed at all. We're going to get destroyed by team USA on Thursday unless they finally decide to put someone else than Binnington in net.

Felt bad for Matinpalo being on the ice as McDavid and MacKinnon are scoring big goals. Didnt seem he really did anything wrong, just there as the best scored. Hopefully being there still helps his confidence. Finland couldve really used Heiskanen, i do like their team.
 
A chance for Sanderson to make a claim for an olympic spot. Must be a hard game to motivate themselves for. Wouldnt want to be a fan that just paid those premium prices for this game. Im sure they're pros and will put on a good show though.
