What’s not to get? Clearly the players and many fans feel differently than you do
Who’s not “getting it” or enjoying it?

Affirmative on both. Fun to watch. Good hockey.

But to pretend that’s it’s close to a Game 7 in the playoffs enroute to a Stanley Cup degrades the effort for the Cup. He sounds like a tool.

Nelson on the ice for the GWG

Nelson the reason for the GWG. A meaningless icing leading to the offensive zone faceoff.

He was literally the worst player on the US for the tournament. Literally nothing positive came from his play. Best thing you can say is that he didn't get injured.

what a surprise the only Islander is probably considered the goat of this team, cant say I saw much of this tournament outside of this game but Brock definitely seemed a step behind, not sure who the US could have picked instead of him but one thing is for sure if he were to get traded his trade value has plummeted

He’s been invisible in the series because of the other talent around him.

He stands out on the Isles cuz we have a team of 3rd liners
And here I was scolded for denigrating Nelson; where's his booster club now?

The other kicker for the Isles from this tournament is how good Toews looked. No need to dwell on the past I suppose, but I think a lot of us knew he'd be good and were upset to see him go. He was so good for this entire tournament - he'd have been a real benefit to this Isles D-core.

Nelson was for sure the worst player for the US, but Matthews and Hughes were complete no shows for the whole tournament. Hughes especially looked awful. Constantly got knocked around and overpowered easily.

I thought he was pretty mediocre and didn't really create much of anything. He has great chemistry with Makar and that helps elevate his status.

Matthew’s is officially a loser at this point. He’s 0-7 in series deciding games.

Hughes is another loser in the making. Good luck with that NJ.

If the US thinks these two losers are leaders, winners, clutch, or momentum shifting players…then there ain’t no hope. They are passengers, not pilots.

The winners on the US, the Tkachuks, Werenski, and Slavin. Honorable mention Larkin. TBD Hellybuck.

Happy for Columbus they actually have a legit star on their team after years of putrid players.

Late to the party here, but four things jumped out for me:
- Post-Stanley Cup, this was far and away the best outing I've ever seen from Binnington. They only needed a goalie to be at his best for one game. This was it. Bummer for the US, who had the better chances.
- Slavin is a gift from the gods of defense. Hard to say that every youngster should model his game after him, because so much of his abilities have to do with his understanding of the game and anticipation, but young defenders should DEFINITELY be watching this guy with every opportunity.
- Nelson let Bennett go for the game-tying goal. OUCH! Everything looked alright until Nelson started gliding. What a terrible look!
- Saw the OT goal but not the icing that led to it. I have already shared the highlight of that goal with my hockey team as I've been harping on the defensive duties of the centers for weeks now. Matthew's urge to head to the corner to take the guy Fox should be (and was in the process of) orienting towards was more than just the wrong choice. And you saw it developing in the process. That he wasn't sticking to McDavid like flies on s$%& is just beyond me. We got to delve a bit further into one of the main reasons Toronto can't get out of the first round...
