Which is why I didn't exactly get into tonight's game...it was still somewhat likely it'd be a rematch

If Binnington was giving up soft goals to Larkin and Guentzel, Rantanen and Laine are going to be licking their lips to shoot on him on Monday. The reverse also works with Canadas guys on Lankinen (I assume he starts over Saros since they won) but a muddy, tight game favors Finland

Nothing Canada can do when your goalie is giving up shots that peewee goalies would stop.

That being said, FREEEEEEEEEE BIRDDDDDDDDDDDD
The crack Canada management team and coaches f***ed this up more than once.

Their first f*** up was Montembeault on the roster over Thompson. Binnington should have been the third string behind Thompson and Hill. I think Montembeault was only here because they didn’t have to spend money to fly somebody else out to Montreal because he was already gonna be there because he plays in that city, and they knew he wouldn’t have to play anyway.

And even after they went with the three they went with, they could have possibly still not f***ed it up if they had went with Hill over Binnington.

Why is Binnington ahead of Hill in the pecking order anyway? Binnington has been worse this season, Binnington has been bad for 3 of the last 4 seasons. Binnington’s cup win was almost 6 years ago. Hill’s was not quite two years ago.

If the roster had to be set in the summer I could totally understand not going with Thompson because he is an injury case. So is Hill. But these rosters were announced in the middle of December I think?

I think Binnington is on the bench for Hill on Monday night if I had to guess.

Can they seriously throw him out there again on Monday?

“Why not? He only allowed 2 goals and made all those saves in 3 on 3 against Sweden!”.

Ticket prices really shot up for the final, they were expensive to begin with and that's why I held out on buying in advance since I was only going if the US made it to the final.

Probably going to wait to see if Finland can pull off the upset cause that could make the prices drop.

The weather also looks bad for Thursday so that could help drop prices. I'm 99% sure I'm still going though.

Hey you never know, Finland doesn't have to win in regulation either. They just have to win, can even just drag it to a shootout.
They don't 'have' to but that's the only way they can clinch it themselves. Sweden would still pass either team with a regulation win if that game ends in OT since they'd have five points to four

It would conversely be so odd if we have to play Sweden in a meaningless game Monday then wind up playing them again for the tournament Thursday. Of course the alternative is the game winds up being meaningless for both teams since Canada-Finland play the afternoon game so Sweden will know if they're out by then

Too bad the final isn’t in Philly. Like to see how they feel about being disrespected. Not the players but the fans. The booing was unnecessary and it wasn’t all the fans but there were at least half of them. Let’s hope Boston shows class, although I’m a little offended. But what does it matter what I think anyway.

I gotta say, I really hope Matthew Tkachuk isn't hurt or out a long time, not just for this tournament but for the league/fla team.

Guy played his heart out all game and it's something Team USA, and us fans needed. Guy is heart and soul even if he is a f***ing jackass in league play. Major props.

It may be a bit heretical around the team boards, but hoping he can fit right back into the rest of the season. It just seems fair.

It's Boston, a lot of them will absolutely boo the Canadian national anthem too.

Slavin, McAvoy and Hanifin were just other worldly tonight. Thought Jack was pretty meh he needs to learn to be calmer with puck in these tight checking games. Too antsy and quick to force passes tonight. They had tough matchups for the most part going against McDavid line all game.

Either way this experience is nothing but amazing for him.

Goodnight Canada!

Yeah, I didn't love Jack's game tonight. He's one of the guys whose performance tonight makes me think we still haven't seen USA's best game.

You hate to see anybody get hurt in this. It can really upend not just the players year but the entire teams season and its fans.

I’ve been surprised by how bitterly it’s been fought. Didn’t expect to see all of those brawls at the puck drop. What the hell was that about, before play even started?

This is really a dress rehearsal for next years Olympics and all four teams will benefit from it. Don’t expect to see Jordan Binnington in goal next winter games. Don’t expect to see the fist fights either. Plus look for Canada to be deeper with defensemen on their roster - they badly missed Makar tonight.
