HF Habs: 4 Nations Face-Off: Canada vs Sweden - Wed. Feb. 12th, 8 PM | SN, TVAS, TNT, MAX

At first I wasn't too thrilled about this tournament especially since Russia is not part of it but as we get closer to puck drop I'm starting to get excited.

We really didn't have any international tournament for the past decade. I'm looking forward to seeing some dream linemates and competitive hockey. I'm particularly interested to see how Laine performes with some decent teammates.

The current geopolitical affairs between Canada and USA makes this even more spicy.

It's a nice break from the regular NHL All-Star game. You got to appreciate it for what it is. A preview before the Olympics.

I wish more teams participated but it should be a fun even nevertheless.

Don't think Marchand is at the Olympics, don't think Scheifele is on the list either then.
Let's say it, there is less incentives to do well in this tournament vs. Olympics.

Suzuki is next in line.
Celebrini and Bedard will be entering the conversation soon.

Reinhart - McDavid - Marner
Stone - MacKinnon - Crosby
Marchand - Point - Jarvis
Hagel - Cirelli - Konecny

Could easily become

Reinhart - McDavid - Marner
Celebrini - MacKinnon - Crosby / Bedard (Bedard used against lesser competition, Crosby used for 3-4 games)
Stone - Point - Jarvis
Hagel - Cirelli - Konecny/Suzuki

Scheifele was added if Crosby wasn't good to go, Marchand was also included. Some of the players who made the team... just stupid. Fans want to see Celebrini, Bedard the next group I don't think it matters in the end if they win

I think since its replacing the All star game, they made all-star like choices to reward players doing well in the season. I think that's a union-deal that won't exist for the Olympics.

You are forgetting the Armstrong/Robert Thomas connection. The best thing that could possibly happen for the Olympics is that Team Canada gets embarrassed in the Four Nations Cup and a new selection process is put in place. Not making the final would be embarrassing as would getting blown out by the US.

I wouldn't say I'm excited more mildly interested.

Finland is going to have a rough time unless they get Hasek type goaltending from Saros. Practically their entire defense is injured.

Imo, USA has the best team at all positions.

I think Canada has a stronger forward group than Sweden, but Sweden has the better D group & goaltending. The winner of tonight's game will play USA in finals.

Yep yep not forgetting that. I think Thomas is a good option as well, he's in the mix.

Let's say Ds are a wash between Canada vs USA, even though I'd give it to Canada, not just for experience, but also having established chemistries, are the US goalies that big an advantage when you conside the wide chasm between Canada's centerline vs USA?

It's really who is the bigger choker, Marner or Matthews.
