This tournament format is more unforgiving than the gretsky hrlinka u18. I would have preferred play 2 teams and have a semis.

Nylander was pretty much Nyalnder. Created some offense and made a couple nice defensive plays, and also made some terrible plays.

Might have won it in OT if they called the too many men on Canada.

Willy had mixed emotions in this one.

Nylander is currently the highest goal scoring Canadian born player in the NHL this year, while playing for team Sweden.

He took a penalty on CDN first goal, and was directly responsible for poor defensive / give away on another.

The Calgary, Alberta born player played a significant role in Team Canada's win, :wg:

William Nylander literally won that game for Canada. It was an outstanding sabotage. MvP

Sanheim in for Shea. Another big body, is he smooth skating too ? Some of these players I dont know much on since I watch way too much Leafs lol.

The game I enjoyed the most in that series was the round robin Czech/Canada game, that ended up 1-0 Czech. Great play after great play by forwards and defencemen on both teams and some excellent saves by both goalies. The only thing that could have been better was the outcome.
yeah, I've conflated the 2 games - it was a long time ago. That 1-0 game was the all time great one

It lacked any meaning. That said I will watch the next Canada game to see if it stirs me anymore
I think you are short selling how important it is for these guys to suit up for their country.

The Cup will always be #1 for most, but most of these guys have never had a chance to play for their country at this level.

The next gimmick should be North America vs Europe or World. Get Russia back in there.

7 game series

He’s okay but if I had to pick one guy I hoped we would never need to insert it would be Sanheim.

Same. It's why I always take VIA to MTL when I go now. Quick and easy and no B.S. if booked ahead of time its pretty reasonable too!
I need a vehicle when I'm there and there is typically 4 of us, train isn't feasible.

Heres a link to Monepucks page which visually shows the numbers. Too much work typing it out earlier.

Thanks.
Just read through some of the Team Sweden thread on the main board, many thought he was terrible and a big reason for the losss. I don't know that I'd say terrible but he wasn't very good, we've certainly seen much better from him this season.

How were Nylanders stats by comparison?
Leaf fans don't seem to have much of an opinion on his play last night......weird.
I don't think people feel the need to pump him the same way they do Marner.

He led the forwards in ice time and shot attempts, created some chances, made a couple of good defensive plays (including blocking a shot and robbing Marchand of a probable goal), and didn't score on a breakaway in OT. May have been their best forward.

Decent game, nothing great.

Yeah, Canada got away with one there.
One Leaf on each team, so the refs didn't know who to favour? :sarcasm:

Nylander was their best a worst player. 2 goals against were on him. I would just pen Nylander for Canadas roster and credit him a couple As that game. I am sure he made all of Sweden facepalm.

Sorry if already posted. I was wondering about this last night after the injury.

That's a good way to do it. These guys are already at risk playing extra games ( I know they make millions) I'm just saying at least every team is protected then and can bring up someone else in an emergency.

For example ... playing the rest of the tournament with 5 d man and risking further injuries etc would be brutal.

I hope every player stays healthy on all teams now. That sucks for him to be out.

Behind enemy lines.

I get why people are booing him there... captain of the Leafs... American etc. It's still pretty lame. Matthews and Nylander laughed it off. Good on them.

I also get why some may boo the American anthem... because of all the craziness going on. It's a little lame because it's about their government.

I don't think all American people are idiots either. They're run by one and unfortunately enough of them voted that one idiot in. That's on them. Pretty sad really.

Many of them really need to start looking outside of their own little "globe" and realize there is a whole entire planet of people with differences and it's pretty crazy but guess what... people being different is a good thing. Different cultures, religions etc etc. We should be taking in different perspectives on life and learning from one another.

I'll end my rant there lol
