Memorial Cup format would have been good. This tournament format is more unforgiving than the gretsky hrlinka u18. I would have preferred play 2 teams and have a semis.
Nylander was pretty much Nyalnder. Created some offense and made a couple nice defensive plays, and also made some terrible plays.
Might have won it in OT if they called the too many men on Canada.
Willy had mixed emotions in this one.
Nylander is currently the highest goal scoring Canadian born player in the NHL this year, while playing for team Sweden.
He took a penalty on CDN first goal, and was directly responsible for poor defensive / give away on another.
The Calgary, Alberta born player played a significant role in Team Canada's win,![]()
It lacked any meaning. That said I will watch the next Canada game to see if it stirs me anymoreIt lacked the feel of a typical international hockey game.
yeah, I've conflated the 2 games - it was a long time ago. That 1-0 game was the all time great oneThe game I enjoyed the most in that series was the round robin Czech/Canada game, that ended up 1-0 Czech. Great play after great play by forwards and defencemen on both teams and some excellent saves by both goalies. The only thing that could have been better was the outcome.
I think you are short selling how important it is for these guys to suit up for their country. It lacked any meaning. That said I will watch the next Canada game to see if it stirs me anymore
Same. It's why I always take VIA to MTL when I go now. Quick and easy and no B.S. if booked ahead of time its pretty reasonable too!Beautiful, but God I hate that drive!
He’s okay but if I had to pick one guy I hoped we would never need to insert it would be Sanheim.Sanheim in for Shea. Another big body, is he smooth skating too ? Some of these players I dont know much on since I watch way too much Leafs lol.
I need a vehicle when I'm there and there is typically 4 of us, train isn't feasible.Same. It's why I always take VIA to MTL when I go now. Quick and easy and no B.S. if booked ahead of time its pretty reasonable too!
How were Nylanders stats by comparison?
Leaf fans don't seem to have much of an opinion on his play last night......weird.
Thanks.Heres a link to Monepucks page which visually shows the numbers. Too much work typing it out earlier.

I don't think people feel the need to pump him the same way they do Marner. How were Nylanders stats by comparison?

One Leaf on each team, so the refs didn't know who to favour?Yeah, Canada got away with one there.
Nylander was their best a worst player. 2 goals against were on him. I would just pen Nylander for Canadas roster and credit him a couple As that game. I am sure he made all of Sweden facepalm.I don't think people feel the need to pump him the same way they do Marner.
He led the forwards in ice time and shot attempts, created some chances, made a couple of good defensive plays (including blocking a shot and robbing Marchand of a probable goal), and didn't score on a breakaway in OT. May have been their best forward.
Decent game, nothing great.
Behind enemy lines.
