Shouldn’t those two be worth more than 14?
Nate MacKinnon signed for 8 years at $12.6 mil last year, bypassing the world's best player Connor McDavid by $100k to appease the NHLPA.

Unless one believes Marner >>> Nate MacKinnon they should accept MM salary should be less than $12,6 mil.

MacKinnon is doing what is in the best interest of his TEAM, at the expense of his own financial benefit. and not his own greed. Ownership and management and Avs fans alike embrace that postion with open arms.

You seem to be implying that MacKinnon is worth more just so Marner can charge the Leafs more for his services putting his own interest in front of the Leafs team. Its that very point as to why Marner has so many Leaf fan detractors because he is not willing to put TEAM before Player.

i.e If Mac was making > $14 mil then Marner asking $13 mil+ would be reasonable,

Yes MacKinnon should be making more than 14

In what way did he seem to say that?
I saw an interview when they asked why he shifted him to 3rd line. Said he needed certains type to bang and crash go in the corners sort of thing.. And of course he did win. I often thought Toronto had too much of one thing and needed more of another. Hey afterall, one round against an aging tired Tampa team does show something. Let's see what Tre can get with not much.

The projected $8m increase is the cap is just what the Dr. ordered for pending UFAs.

Not really. It is likely he wasn't even thinking about the Leafs. He said he wanted Marner's creativity with those two "worker bees".
what he said was:
"
When you come to these tournaments, and you have no exhibition or pre-games, you are thrown into the fire. You have to see what works. We have done a little dabbling, and after the U.S. game, we had two games under our belts. We had a pretty good feeling about where the pieces fit into the puzzle. Fortunately, it worked out for us yesterday. All of the lines fit.

Cirelli and Hagel play a different brand of game than Mitch, but they both need each other. Mitch needs them, and they need Mitch. He can create for them. They are the worker bees, and he is the one who kind of organizes things in the offensive zone."

What would that do for us as fans?

Would AM score more goals if we paid him that much - maybe 80 or 90?

It's an interesting theoretical question, but I feel he's already paid quite well - he makes about $18.8 million CAD a year and he's 27 years old. I know I would have been okay making that.

All those extra millions have to come from somewhere, and I've got a feeling they'd come from the pocketbooks of hockey fans, specifically Toronto hockey fans.
I don't think the Leafs are holding back on fan pricing because player costs are controlled
