The player that I was most impressed with from team USA was Werenski.
Fantastic moving the puck, solid defensively and finishes the tournament with 6 points that leads the event.
He's always been a really good player but this tournament along with his season with the bluejackets, has really pushed him up the rankings.
Slavin is a beast as well. Not sure there is another defensive defenceman in the game that brings that kind of pizzazz to that comparably duller part of the game.

Canada did not have anybody who could crush a player like Brady did multiple times last night. Also scored a goal. He was definitely the most feared American player for multiple reasons.
Bennett can crush people with the best of them.

Find a way to sign Marchant and Bennett if the become UFA's.
Don't sign JT if he wants to stay he will have to fit in some how.

Dream line

Marchant Bennett Marner

Marner finally got. a taste does he want it more now

I remember there'd be a faction of Leaf fans always crapping on Sundin because he seemed to play better wearing the Tre Kronor jersey over the Maple Leafs jersey. Which always elicited two thoughts for me:

1. Surround him with quality wingers and a team, and look how good he'd be.
2. Most players love playing for their country more than their club team.

To point 2, that was shown to be the case this tournament, and in particular last night. For Matthew Tkachuk to say last night's game was going to be the biggest game he has ever played in, even after playing and winning Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final not too long ago, is telling enough.

I'm hoping that the great performance by Matthews and Marner gives them confidence that they can do the same thing in the playoffs. If Matthews can find free space in the slot or not as deep in the corner as he usually is with the Leafs, Marner will get him the puck. I'm a little concerned that Matthews couldn't put away a few of his great chances (shades of Matthews vs Price or Vasi), but all he needs to do is bury a key one in the playoffs to win us a series.

Marner to McDavid is the 2025 equivalent of Iggy to Crosby in 2010.

Talk about passing of the torch. This is where Crosby hands the 'C' off to McDavid for next year's Olympics, swapping letters with him.

Guentzel, Slavin, Werensky all impressed at how good they were. With Canada not as many surprises, maybe a few not as good as I expected. Hagel being able to drop the gloves like he did was biggest eye opener.
