Proudly Canadian.

Well done Boys !!!

Hockey is Canada's game.

Check post 3518 just couple posts up. Zybalto explains it pretty good after asking about it as well where I read somewhere that Fox was the main mistake that started it all.

Its funny how people think of these things too. Was Fox wrong for taking the man at the net if a quick shot was incoming? Was Matthews wrong for pressuring Marner there instead of leaving him all alone as he was?

Really, really smart play by everyone involved on Canada there and so simple too. Point drives the net and creates open Marner and Makar whips it around to open Marner which creates open McDavid.

When they say this was like a playoff game, I agree completely for sure. That said, you never have this embarrassment of riches head to head in any series, this level of play has no peer in certain respects. If these were NHL teams, both would steamroll the best NHL team, so it really is a unique competitive expression.

Leaf fans who are also Canadians have to live vicariously through victories like this, to get those precious memories.
Nope. I wanted that Matthews shot in OT under the bar. That is a Leaf victory for me.

I've seen Canada win stuff, and I don't really care if I see anything else. Also, cheering with the other Canadian fans who support other Canadian NHL teams is something I really can't get behind.

Leafs wise, I thought Marner and Matthews had a strong tournament. Marner had to play multiple different roles from being on a offence line, to going to the 3rd line as a "Shutdown line". Nylander tournament was good too, but I don't think he elevated his game.

Matthews didn't score but was probably Americas 2nd best forward, he had a really strong defensive performance shutting down most of the elite players this tournament. (1 missed assignment doesn't change anything).

Tournament helped see players you don't always get to watch, Brady Tkchuck is going to be a problem come playoff time, he's built for that. Guentzel was always a solid player, but he stood out a lot this tournament. Thought Hughes & Reinhart weren't very good.

Matthews had a really good game, the end result for him was a downer, but hopefully he took something away from this. Looked like some miscommunication on that goal.

Binnington saved their bacon on that one shift, which ironically would have been Matthews line scoring on Mitch’s.

Sorry, I don't think Nylander had a good tournament at all to be honest, three shots in three games, marquee minutes and PP, he really didn't distinguish himself from what I watched (granted only saw two of his games, highlights the other). Just saying, it was a C for me. Matthews got better as the tourney went on, I thought last night was his best game.
