Well, to be honest, if Canada doesn't win this tournament, I won't be losing sleep. But Marner playing well in pressure games is something he can build off of if he does it, which is still up in the air.

It's the opposite of what people want, it would be nice if Marner and Matthews dominated this tournament but as fans...we've seen both in big pressure filled games and this tournament kind of reinforces that they don't seem to be big game players.

We still have to credit Marner for that OT goal, even if he's headed into dog house territory here. At least he did something that led to a W 1.5 games ago... even if you don't like his full body of work.

Matthews, I dunno about that guy. You dial down the seriousness of the tournament, he's leading his All-Star team to 3 on 3 glory, yucking it up. You dial up the stakes on anything so it feels real, he's hiding behind the Tkachuk brothers and happy to take up Phillip Danault duties while others shine.

For Mitch, yes. Matthews was very good against Canada, and part of the reason McDavid was pretty quiet.

We'll have to see on Thursday if the trends continue.

We couldn’t have asked for a better deal today. No need to overplay anyone or throw guys out there that aren’t particularly healthy.

I do give some credit there but there was a lot of ice at 5v5, the only other play I noticed him on was that highlight reel save that Gustavsson made in that wild passing play.

It's tight games, realistically every play you're going up against another team's #1 or #2 defenseman, they can shut things down on you.

I was just really hoping for some big moment from both.

That being said, it looks like Canada has an alright chance of a re-match, I hope one or both are noticeable for the right reasons.

The difference Matthews has size and can score. Regular season, Batman and Robin. This tournament:

Yes. He was lost.

Look when it gets going you're dealing with a guy with the physique of a high metabolism fortnite gamer... and it shows
I haven't seen anything from Reinhart, Stone and a few others that have showed me that McDavid, MacKinnon and Crosby are rolling because they are who they are. It has nothing to do with Marner being an anchor to McDavid.

McD and MM was a bad match to begin with, and that had nothing to do with MM, it has everything to do with the ways both play the game.

Both needs to be the primary puck handler on the their line.

Both sides just stop with the attacking and defending.
