Thats a cold fact. Sweden has been consistently stronger. But I hope that every streak ends sometime.
This tournament would be nice to watch but a bit "meh"... If we somehow by some miracle manage to win this, everyone says its just a joke tournament, no real best-on-best win etc. If we end up last, its how it supposed to be. You win or lose, neither is good. Canadas victory would be best for everyone here. They brag about it for a while and be annoying and arrogant as usual and thats it.

You would think Zine should be popping in any moment to give you a reprimand about generalizing and that it " ain't cool".
But somehow I don't think that's gonna happen in this case.
Sweden will finish 4th and their first loss gets handed to them when they play against Canada on Feb 12.
I think so too, can't see Sweden winning a single game.

Counter-påint. I see Sweden winning the tournament just because i have 2 Swedish co-workers who will give me so much shit.
Finland will be the worst team in this tournament most likely and it's because our defense is so bad compared to others. At least on paper the superstar lines should score a lot against us no matter how Saros plays. It's all fine when Heiskanen and Lindell are on the ice, or even Ristolainen has proved he can do his job in philly, but after that it's not very nice. Hakanpää getting ready would be big, but even then that's only 4 defenders i've mentioned and let's be honest Mikkola or Määttä will be in big trouble against the absolute best in the world, as will the 3rd pairing who ever it might be at the time (Välimäki - Hakanpää? yikes)

We should definitely beat Finland, but this time around I don't think we will. Maybe some of our players will turn things around until it's time to play, but right now a majority of our key forwards are in a slump.

Canada has got 485 NHLers. We could send 4 teams of NHL all stars. And win easily the fist 4 spots.
Canada will take the gold as usual. Hockey is our game.
Finland and Sweden will have their heritage the bronze medal game. Bronze is a medal. Not as shiny as gold tho.

I honestly want to know, will Europeans even watch this tournament? Don't they mostly watch the iihf world championship and the OG?

Skoda cup is The Stanley Cup for the Euros since it's always played in the europe. The Olympic games are probably second. Then these gimmick tournaments.
This 4 team tournament will not be watched by the euros since they refuse to wake up 3AM to watch hockey.

If Canada wins it's "every one knew this", if they don't "This isn't even a real tournament, they didn't play 100%, were dodging injuries."
If and when USA wins, it's "Yeah but team canada will have better goalies in olympics!" If Sweden or Finland wins it's: "no one even cared about this stupid tournament, it was just practice for olympics."

A bit difficult with the time zone difference. I think in Finland only hardcore hockey fans will watch. Regular Joes will most likely limit themselves to watch the Sweden game since played at 1pm EST. I can't really see normal, every day folks staying up all night for the Finland games Vs US and Can.

I don't think either of Pettersson or Forsberg is on the level one would expect. Arvidsson, Nyquist, Lindholm, Kempe and Carlsson are not really shining at the moment either. That leaves Nylander, Bratt, Karlsson, Raymond and JEE up front.

The 2006 Olympics were in Europe. It's a different game with euro rules. The rink is much bigger than in the NA. The rules are for wimpy euros. It's a miracle we win anything at all in Europe w/ their homerism. I never watch the Skoda cup, since it's always in Europe and the game is boring as hell. We have lots of fights in every NHL game. International hockey is too wimpy for us Canadians. We participate and we everything still.
