If we played a decent defensive system (Last played under Lemaire) then Marty probably has a 910 save percentage last year. Maybe even higher.

The fact we barely give up any shots but too many breakaways/odd man breaks, killed his save percentage.

You notice something here that kind of skews the stats.
They give up fewer shots, BUT the shots they do give up are of good quality. That's the problem with our D. They are good at not getting pinned in our zone, and they are pretty good at blocking shots and preventing teams from setting up, BUT they let guys get past them and give up a lot of 2 on ones and break aways.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. The 20-25 shots per game that we allow are more dangerous than the 35 Buffalo and Dallas allow per game.

DeBoer on Schneider:"He’s excited, he’s a great kid and we’re excited for him. I think the guys are going to play their butts off for him.”

these guys can't even play for their elderly goalie. lol

This is 100% true.

Save percentage is a function of shots allowed, and shots allowed is a function of team defense. Team defense is not quantifiable for anything other than shot volume and goals, and does not account for shot quality, which is why SV% is an inherently flawed statistic.

Good luck on the game tonight NJ and good luck to Schneidsy against my Nucks. I think Cory will play well and hope it is a great game. I want to see Schneider get the head to head win against Lou 3-1 NJ with maybe my boy Bieksa scoring one to spoil the shutout :P Enjoy the game!

I am literally furious about everything Devils related right now aside from the offense. Never would've predicted that coming into the season.

It was pretty predictable, actually. Don't remember if I ever posted it, but I was very skeptical of resigning Harrold in the off season. It was obvious he was gonna see time ahead of more deserving players and continue to f-up our top-6 with an extra body who couldn't just be saved for when injuries hit.

This is where speed comes in defensively, speed is so much more important than a lot of people give it credit for defensively. There's a reason our guys are constantly getting blown by

Hope to see Fayne get right into things as I don't want him sitting ever again.

Definitely curious to see what Olesz can bring. Hopefully he continues the parade of awesome by the new guys.

it's funny how misleading stats can be. Zidlicky is plus 2 with 3 assist in 3 games playing 22 mins a night. That sounds great but he's looked like complete doo doo out there.
