Unfortunately speed and skating in general seem to be difficult to improve. His speed might keep him in the bottom-6, or even worse.

True, but given a good conditioning / skating coach, miracles can happen.

What I meant was not to blame Chytil. Just that he as the new player did not know what to do because the coach has no structure, system that he gives to players to follow.

That's just what happens when you're playing man to man and there's an extra man. Usually, we can't even handle man to man 5 on 5 in the defense zone once we're in a stand still. The stupid "shots from the outside" and "bend and don't break" stuff hasn't worked in years. 6 on 5 under Vigneault is where the serial killer lets the victim go with a bottom of water, a box of matches, and a box of triscuits and gives them a 1 hour head start on foot before releasing a pack of hungry wolves and a box of angry wasps. An inevitable demise.
