Unfortunately, I will be missing this game. I am flying to London in the morning for work and can't risk missing my flight. I already missed my flight back home from Dublin 2 weeks ago haha

Fogarty and Beleskey over Holland and Carey?

Good for Fogarty to grab some garbage time. Getting a call up and ND in the NCAA Finals tonight is a double win for the kid.

Missing this one for an indoor softball tourney. Probably because I'm not watching it in person, I'm hoping for a loss.

If this was the deciding game to knock Philly out of the playoffs, I'd be on board with flying Jokinen over to give a pep talk to the boys and then kicking Philly's asses. I just don't have faith in Florida to do their part.

EDIT - Apparently, Olli is working in the Panthers organization now. Even more incentive for him to pour his heart out.

Just another step on the journey. Tank talk dies after today, so that is cool, and the more interesting off-season season begins. Murdelize the Flyers.

why would it be? We want to keep the Cup out of Canada, and the Jets have one of the most obnoxious fanbases around.

Now Vegas winning the cup, THAT would be amazing for the NHL and Hockey.

I don't understand this mentality at all. In my opinion, Vegas winning the Cup in their first season would be an absolute joke. They'd also have the same amount of Cups in one season as the Rangers do in the last 77.

The fans in Winnipeg deserve it.

But honestly what positive will the sure thing provide? There's an argument to be made that when there are 20 games left you don't want a losing culture so you don't want to bottom out. Fine. One game won't make or break a culture, but it could easily give us a better pick and a better shot at the top 3. There is literally zero upside in winning this game.

Edit: Put another way if everything breaks well and we pick 7th but we end up picking the same exact player as if we were 10th and won today the situation would be identical, the extra loss would not play a role in anything.

If they pick a bust then that 1 win will be worth more. Again, not even how I feel about it but I get why folks feel that way. I can't really think of anysituations where we reasonably could've gotten a lower pick and not doing so significantly damaged the team. Usually we just f*** up and pick Sang over Giroux, jessiman over everyone or McI over Tarasenko and Fowler. In this case, things are a little different though because with our other picks as top 3 trade up ammo AND with the double lotto chance I see this as significantly more important than normal though. LGR: tank Edition!

I've never been to Nashville, but that's probably the next city on my list of where I want to visit. It actually really warms my heart that they've embraced hockey. Are their fans bandwagon-y? Sure. But so are Pens fans. I lived in Pittsburgh and despite their fans being bandwagon-y, they cared a million times more about hockey than Rangers fans and the Rangers have been one of the best franchises in the NHL the last dozen or so years.

I think every team has bandwagon fans. I know a ton of people who bled blue in 93-94 and were nowhere to be found after 97-98. The hardcore fan base is obviously smaller since Nashville only has about 700K people as opposed to many millions in NY, but the hardcore are definitely hardcore.

It helps that the Titans are the only other professional franchise here. The baseball team is the AAA affiliate of Oakland and we don’t have a good college basketball team, so hockey here gets more attention due to less competition than it would in say, Raleigh, where college basketball is king.

If you ever visit let me know. I’ll give you some good spots to go to.

I don't get this VGK winning is a joke opinion. They didn't get gifted anything insane they just picked a ton of 2nd line, 3rd line talent brilliantly, got a solid G and a good coaching staff to run the ship.

Uh, they played and won a game 7 against the heavily favored Pens in 1996.

I’d say that game was a wee bit more important.
Was until they lost. Until I see a Stanley Cup Finals game here again, that won't matter half as much as whatever next step towards the Cup is. The Cup is what matters, why I always want to keep the guys that weren't such producers in the reg and came alive in the playoffs. @Miamipuck @Hunter Gathers

Maybe they didn't get gifted anything "insane", but they certainly got gifted a bunch of really good players that would never have been available in previous expansion drafts. They've also been gifted an unbelievable amount of just plain luck this year. 40 goal scorer William Karlsson? Please.

I personally think there's something to be said for "paying dues". Maybe I'm old school that way.

Crazy that we're going to watch the final game of Alain Vigneault's NYR career.

Can't wait for this season to be over and for playoffs/World Championships to begin.

I'm assuming media breakup day will be sometime between Monday and Wednesday.

Hopefully Monday is Black Monday for AV.
This organization is too classy to fire AV one, two or even 3 days after the season is over. Yes, the sooner the better, but I would double down on AV not getting canned until about a week after. My last "sure thing" was the Panthers crushing the Islanders about 10 days ago or so. Mark my words.

Well, no one forced Florida to give them two first line forwards for free.
