It's crazy because at one point under Cooper we were like 8-1

You're right. Here's every OT game from 2014-2020 (the last from 2020 is the first game of our current skid):

'14 vs. MTL: Game 1 - L

'15 vs. DET: Game 4 - W
vs. MTL: Game 1 - W
vs. NYR: Game 3 - W

'16 vs. NYI: Game 3 - W
vs. NYI: Game 4 - W
'16 vs. PIT: Game 2 - L
vs. PIT: Game 5 - W

'18 vs. BOS: Game 4 - W

'20 vs. CBJ: Game 1 - W
vs. CBJ: Game 5 - W
vs. BOS: Game 2 - W
vs. BOS: Game 5 - W
vs. NYI: Game 5 - L
vs. NYI: Game 6 - W
vs. DAL: Game 4 - W
vs. DAL: Game 5 - L

Assuming I'm not missing anything, we were 13-4 during that span. 13-3 in the first 16 OT games under Cooper. 13-3, of course, is an absurd record itself for a part of the game that is notoriously unpredictable. Heads might land 13 of 16 times on a coin flip but that doesn't mean it'll happen 13 of the next 16 times. You just don't expect that it's going to land on tails 11 of the next 12 times immediately after that. To go from 13-3 to 1-11 is some kind of extreme course correction.

Raddysh has one series winner to his name.

Sucks losing a series you should've won but I guess this will happen from time to time.

Off season goals: rebuild bottom six and get a defensive defenseman. I don't want to see guys like Maroon back. I want more guys like Eyssimont there. Cole f***ing sucked when it mattered so upgrade on him please.
Tampa should be able to acquire a 3LD and one bottom 6 F(unless they promote an extra Syracuse guy). PEB and Perry are probably gone, so with 1 or 2 Syracuse guys and one bottom 6 F, it could work fine. Someone like Eric Robinson if CBS would trade him or maybe Nick Bjugstad could be decent. I still like trying to trade for Nick Seeler at 3LD, as he has a very team friendly contract for next season and solid underlying numbers. No big changes really aside from Killorn, but some younger and faster blood in a couple of spots will be good imo.

Sucks to lose this the way we did. Still feel proud of them for doing better than I thought they would I guess. We probably should be moving on but you gotta play the whole games not 95% of it. Maybe they ran out of steam in some of those games where past they would have it in them to close it out. Hard to say for sure no mcd or cernak there to help close games out is a difference maker for sure. But you play who you got and leafs were just better this year in getting the production at key times. We've been great at it for years and we go out of first round for first time since the sweep. Maybe this one will light a fire under their ass next year. We could be better next year. It could be done. Rest up and have a good season next year! Go bolts!

Raddysh and Perbix were bright spots.

Point doesn't look anywhere near 100%.

The star players did well with the small details, so even thought they didn't dominate the scoresheet, they played "the right way".

Cernak loss hurt, and Vasy being supbar was the dagger.

Killorn-Cirelli-Hagel was f***ing beastly. I'll put that line against anyone.

Just get rid of the old, slow guys. Eyssimont showed in this series what a speedy guy can do.

Perbix and Raddysh were beyond my expectations. Replacing Cole with a better Dman could be very nice.
Agree on everything. Having Raddysh play 25+ minutes a night in the playoffs and be actually good doing it still confuses me. His goal too was a thing of beauty. Glad we have the 2 of them under contract for next year and on the cheap.

We don't need a rebuild. Whoever said that is Pejorative Slured. Just need new pieces. Raddysh, Perbix, Ace, all welcome additions. We have some players who should be ready to jump in. We need a top 6 solid defenseman.

We need a top 4 dman, and instead of adding to this group we are likely to lose talent this offseason

Raddysh and Perbix were my biggest worries on the roster after not getting a defenseman. Ideally, Cernak doesn't get injured and Raddysh plays on the bottom pairing but I thought Raddysh and Perbix were great. Threw them straight into the fire and they exceeded expectations. Gotta feel for Darren on that last play.

If Vasy wasn't doing this thing where he needs like 4 games to get going in the playoffs, it's likely we advance. Point was a shell of himself and I'm surprised he's alive after that hit. Hopefully Hedman can get healed up.

Stamkos, if it wasn't for face of the franchise stuff, I'd trade his ass so fast. Not a difference maker for the money.

Good effort. The mileage on Tampa’s tanks showed. Cernak was certainly missed.

Neither team got many point blank opps - in the whole series - but some of the early Bolt chances tonight were high quality and when they didn’t find the twine, everything tightened right up. Ugh.

Congrats on a very good season.

They played very well... With Vasi playing average we win this. Shit happens. Proud of every member of the team.

This is where I'm at. Like I'm about as annoyed and grumpy about this as I can possibly be but I'm already over the fact we lost and not even mad. If I was in any better mood I'd have not cared at all

I hope the rest does them well. These guys are tired

Stamkos showed up for 1.5 periods out of 18, glad he didn't finish the series a complete stain but what a disappointment

How many of those were games where we allowed the opponent to tie or were generally outplayed and didn't deserve to win though I'm wondering

Well, this doesn't really answer your question (it's not really one that has an easy answer anyway), but what kinda hurts to think about is that, when I think back to OT of Game 4 against the Avs from a year ago, which eventually ended in a loss for us, we watched that OT with an increasing sense of dread because the Avs were just playing us right off the ice in that OT period. It felt like they were inevitably going to find the winning goal, and to a certain extent, they got their just rewards when they did get it. (I know about all the Kadri/too many men stuff...I don't really care that much; we know that line changes get a decent degree of slack and they should.)

But then we watched Game 3 of this series, and the OT of that game, and while it wasn't as one-sided as that Avs game, we were 100% the better team in that OT period. End result? Vasi lets in a weak goal at the end of the 1st OT period and that's it. Go figure. So we have something of both; games where the OT loss was deserved based on the balance of play in OT, and games where luck very much wasn't on our side.

Haven't read anything so I apologize if I'm repeating anything.

But I had low expectations these playoffs, but to arguably outplay a REALLY good Toronto team for 5 of the 6 games is something I never saw coming. I thought Vasy would have to be super human for us to have a chance to win, never expected we'd have to win in spite of him. Some tough luck, an uncharacteristic bad Vasy, and Cernak being out did us in. Sucks, but I'm glad we didn't go out like Minnesota.

But I always enjoy the offseason chatter.

Big thing I think is we need Cernak to be able to play with either Hedman or Sergachev. We can't afford to get another minute munching LHD to pair him with. We need to be able to get a cheap guy who can play with either Perbix or Raddysh as an actual 3rd pairing. How we get that? Idk. Nobody jumps out free agent wise. I think Colton could get moved for a guy on a ELC to fill that hole.

The Lightning gave it their all. It was great to see that. It's probably easier to score goals in professional soccer than it is in NHL hockey games!! They lost on a fluke goal. They still have a very very good team.

Maroon and Bogo will still be there, but Perry and PEB are likely gone. PEB is still solid defensively, but has nothing for offense. There are multiple Syracuse guys ready for a shot. ABB has, hopefully, turned it around and can have an impact next year, and one of Ryfors or Goncalves could also challenge for a spot.
