Saw some comments that this is the same team as last year. I beg to differ. This team tightened up in the 3rd. They didnt surrender too many high danger chances. Really none until Lindgren’s bad turnover late. But last year’s team doesn’t even get a point let alone the win. Yes Igor stood on his head, but early season game and this group found a way. This is a game you look back on towards the end of the season and feel good about because it can be a difference maker in your season’s fate.

Miller has stepped up the physicality too. I liked the way he closed in on that guy who had a sure breakaway late in the game.

thats the best goaltending performance ive seen since Hank vs Dallas. This was ridiculous and it should have been a shutout. Glad it wasn’t cause we got to see him in OT. He just was not going to get best tonight.

Panarin had never gone 4 games without a goal to start the year. Wasn’t going to start tonight

Hank had a game vs Winnipeg a few years ago that was like this, I think in 2017. After the game Paul Maurice unprompted brought up his good Lundqvist was and went on for like 5 mins basically telling the reporters they must not have been watching the game since nobody mentioned the best player in it and the reason they lost.

Not sure if this was before or after that Dallas game but it always sticks in my mind bc of Maurice basically stroking Hank off in his postgame (metaphorically of course).

So why this win is so important…

The Rangers started with 9 of their first 12 on the road. They have now played 4, are 2-1-1 and have 6 of their next 8 on the road.

This was one of their toughest road games. Not pretty but they found a way to win. It’s great for team building. And it’s helping the team get through this very early ugly schedule.

Oh and our franchise goaltender is playing pretty well.

Where did you guys find this dude Shesterkin; his positioning is freakin off the charts and he is really calm in the net. You guys might have something really special in net for you folks

He was actually an extremely highly-touted prospect, but he kind of flew under the radar outside of Rangers circles because of coming up in Russia as opposed to the NA spotlight, and his underwhelming size. His KHL team was also stacked and he got punished for that among HF prospect aficionados.

Igor just amazing. In his young career he's already shown that he is a top 5/6 goalie in this league. Now if the guys in front of him can come close to matching him we will be more than ok.

Sucks that we have no idea how good Laf can be on the pp since most of the time we can barely enter the zone after losing the faceoff.

To be fair that was probably the Leafs fans first viewing of Fox since his rookie season. Fox wasn’t good tonight at all, numerous mistakes and looked very tentative. Him and Lindy got shelled while Trouba and Miller were great
