It's not saying much but Staal has actually been better at getting shots through to the goalie and on target this season so far

Very unfortunate to take a penalty there... we were really getting some momentum :/

The funny thing is that it’s not the losing that stands out right now. I knew this was going to be a long season and respect that this is a long process.

The thing that stands out is the play of guys who have the chance to mold this team and lead it.

Guys are entering or should be in their prime years. Guys who were handed the keys and told to drive.

Those are the guys who make me feel disappointed.

It’s not the ups and downs of the rookies, or the mistakes of young players finding their way.

It’s the guys with letters on their chest.

It’s the guys who are amazingly talented, and look like mirages on the ice.

I’ll sit through 60 losses this season if I see what I saw from Howden tonight, along with guys like Chytil and ADA putting in the work. I’ll live with the ups and downs of Andersson and Kravtsov.

But with that same expectation, with each passing game it becomes easier to thank guys like Zucc for his service, and wish a guy like Zibanejad all the best with his artistic endeavors.

I think this is fair. The veterans have been terrible and I think it's why the team looks the way it does.

And again, it's not just losing. I was hoping to lose some close games.

Everyone wants their draft picks in June when the draft is going on. They don't think about the months of torture before June.
I’m enjoying this thoroughly.

Watching kids like ADA, Howden, and Chytil. Andersson and Hajek later this season. Lindgren and hopefully Shesty+Kravstov next year.

I swear some of y’all don’t understand the definition of patience. Or insanity.

Karlsson is ****ing ridiculous in his own zone. So underrated.
He's this generation's Lidstrom.

It's why I scoff at people that say a long term contract on him would be foolish. He's going to be a great two way defenseman until he's 40 provided he doesn't accumulate any more serious injuries.

I get that its painful for fans, but you couldn't ask for a better rebuild year. Nothing ambiguous about it. No doubts. So painfully obvious that this team ran its course. 4 games in and the vets are floating and moping. The rookies are fighting for it and buying into the new system. Flashes of hope with the desired scoreboard results.

I'll take this over a hard decision like the ones we faced a few years back. Staal, Girardi and Callahan in succession. A domino effect of decisions based on loyalty, aspirations and a closing window. This is textbook in comparison. The old guard is a big neon sign trying to get off this ship.

Good for you for enjoying this. I mean that.

Exactly this..

Concern about the leadership of this team was expressed last season and this summer.

In fairness, those concerns go back even further.

Even though it’s only been four games, I think those questions are still pertinent to any conversation about this team.
