Hopefully slightly different than just the typical "late round gem exercise", but who do you think as a 3rd round pick or later that in hindsight salvaged entire drafts for a team and/or is worth more than a theoretical full positional redraft in 2025?

I'll define salvage as worth more than the remaining value of that team's draft that year or unknown redraft in 2025 (raw pick value).

I think this criteria may also highlight some non-elite players that wouldn't normally be identified (good but not elite).

I'm just using draft history btw:

-------------
Flames 2018:

Martin Pospisil @ 105 (4th) > Demetrios Koumonzis @ 108 (4th) + Milos Roman @ 122 (4th) + Emilio Pettersen @ 167 (6th) + Dmitry Zavgorodniy at 198 (7th).

I'd say he is worth more than all of the other guys combined in that draft and worth more than 4th + 4th + 6th + 7th in 2025.

2019 draft Calgary Flames:

Dustin Wolf @ 214 (7th) > Pelletier @ 26th (1st) + Ilya Nikolaev @ 88 (3rd) + Lucas Feuk @ 116 (4th) + Josh Nodler @ 150 (5th)

I'd say Wolf is worth more than all of those guys combined (I love Pelletier though) and easily worth more than 2025 1st + 3rd + 4th + 5th unknowns at 26 + 88 + 116 + 150.

Yes... 2011. 😭 and I'd say yes to 2019 and 2010 Flames draft but no to the gems found in the 2015 and 2016 Flames drafts.

------------------------
Minnesota Wild 2015 (Kaprizov), Yotes 2019 (Maccelli), Montreal 2014 (Evans)? Any other interesting ones?

Winnipeg Jets 2012 draft.
1st – Jacob Trouba –was With the New York Rangers now with Ducks
2nd – Lukas Sutter – Out of hockey
3rd – Scott Kosmachuk –
No 4th
5th – Connor Hellebuyck – With the Jets. I say the Jets are pleased with that selection
