Agree with most of this. I think Step has the potential to be a very good thing for NYR, but I'm hesitant to say he is far and away guaranteed to be a 1C based on one great half season which also happened to be a contract year. If he replicates it this season, great, I'll buy in.

Don't agree with the idea that Gabby was better in the POs than Nash though. He was just along for the ride on a lot of his points in the ECF run. Nash absolutely needs to be better, but he actually made a lot of plays happen during the POs. Whereas unless Gabby was scoring (which he didn't do enough of), he was invisible - and yes I know Gabby was injured; don't care. Overall they were both bleh.

Derek Stepan (18) -2 = (16)
Ryan McDonagh (16) +2 = (18)
Marc Staal (6)

I could almost forgive gabby because of injury and the goal to give us a 2-0 lead in R1G1 and give us confidence. His 3OT goal helps a lot. He had a couple of posts and didn't score on Marty. A healthy gabby certainly would have been better than Nash. An injured gabby clutched for us in R2G3. I guess I'm just disappointed with Nash overall.

in R2G3 that was more richie being clutch than gabs. look at it. the pass is absolutely perfect.

The shot off the post and then a few minutes later putting it in by being in the right place without being harassed, I think they were clicking in those shifts.

Someone should tweet him that if he signs a 3 year $9.6M ($3.2M AAV) contract he'll win the HFNYR player poll in a landslide. He'll sign it immediately for sure!!!

Not sure if sarcasm or not, but I've been saying I won't vote for Stepan until he signs even though I'm well aware that it isn't all his fault....

Stepan (3) + 1 = (4) - 1 = (3)
McDonagh (37) + 1 = (38) - 1 = (37)

Stepan = (3)
McDonagh = (37)

Ryan McDonagh (40) - (2) = (38)

Henrik Lundqvist (10) + (2) = (12)

Thought this had been decided already. Alright.

Ryan McDonagh (38) -2 = (36)

Henrik Lundqvist (12) +2 = (14)

EDIT: Also, sneaky putting the wrong name in #3 on the OP. ;)

Shouldn't both guys have started on 20 or something? I think Hank will still win, but McDonagh got a huuuuge handicap.
