Resetting everyone to the same points (10 a piece) is dumb. How you're doing it now gives players who were "behind" an advantage, however small it may be. And bringing it all the way down to ten means a small number of people can influence the last couple rounds in a short time span.

What is the point of giving these players points earlier in the game then? Completely eliminates any value doing that may have had (and this is coming from someone who didn't really "play" earlier on in the game). If you want to eliminate tedium, just subtract the same number of points from each of their original scores... if -40 doesn't work, do -20 or -30.
