My rough estimation would say Coyle has "net 0 value" at 5 mill AAV.
So whatever the current market value is of 2.4 mill for 1 year+1/4 year.
2nd+3rd would be my estimation of it.

Sounds about right. I was thinking it would make sense for him to go for 2/3 second round picks you have in 2025. Probably two lowest ones.
Definitely could see something there. Coyle is a good 3C

If the Habs retained his contract at 50%? You’d be looking at a fairly significant asset (in my opinion). The 2026 1st round pick would probably be the target for Hughes. I don’t know if the Devils would want to pay it, but I’m certain that would be the ask.

Sure, I don’t doubt they’ll examine all options. I’m just saying if the Habs retained 50 percent (and potentially took a cap dump back) then that’s the kind of return they’d be looking to receive.
Evans has been terrific this year. He’s actually produced more on the third line and killing penalties, than Nelson has playing first line and the top powerplay (to date anyway).
He’s also younger and cheaper which suits Jersey a hell of a lot more with their current cap structure, which could also allow them to make another depth move at the deadline as well.

Yeah, i just don't think he's an optimal 3C, depends on your needs and fit i guess.

ROR seems like Palat 2.0. That kind of player is exactly what the Devils need - great defense and chips in enough offense - but he is no longer what he was. And certainly wouldn't give up anything significant for him at this point. At best, a 2nd and B-tier prospect.
The cheaper set of players - Evans, O'Connor, Tanev, etc. - seems more likely. Maybe even two of them if possible.
I'd also say that people are proposing a lot of players I like - Backlund, Coleman, Tanev, ROR, etc. - but missing the real problem. The Devils get stops from their bottom six, defensively they're fine. The issue is depth scoring. Quite a few of these guys are barely above Haula as far as career averages.
That being said, I will say that Backlund, ROR, Coleman and Tanev are more likely to do hero shit in the playoffs than our current bottom six.
