the Devils are in desperate need of another center. Erik Haula looks toast (0 pts since Thanksgiving) and he is dragging down the rest of the team.

They have three 2nd round picks in 2025 to dangle plus other pieces. Lets keep it realistic and not ask for Nemec or Silayev or something (unless its for a young player with term).

Who would fit the bill that is available?

Honestly I’d love to see Backlund retire a flame but if he wants to chase a cup I think he’d be an ideal fit and the Flames should do him a solid if there’s an offer from a legit contender (like jersey)

That being said if he’s happy to ride off into the sun in Calgary I don’t think it’s in the cards and the flames are in the mix for a wild card spot too which makes it even less likely

Maybe next year when he’s a pending UFA

Peyton Krebs? I am not sure he is a 3C although he has the potential.

Too good to be a 4C not good enough to be a 3C. I also think Ruff has shifted him to the wing recently. 54% on faceoffs this year.

Buffalo looking for a defensive defenseman coming back. Also trading Krebs could be a bit controversial.

he looks to be having an even worse season than Haula, so I'd pass.

If it's someone who is on the crest of a wave, it's unlikely to be an easy ask. Teams with a good 3 who is playing well are loathe to trade them.

Jake Evans would be a good target. Just ignore the Habs fans saying for a 1st rounder. If he's not extending in Montreal a 2nd+ should be enough I'd imagine, and he's having an excellent season. Could be a number of teams willing to grab him or Brock Nelson so maybe the cost runs up a bit with the plsu to the 2nd.

Sharks have Granlund, Kunin, and Sturm as Cs. I'm guessing that Kunin anjd Sturm aren't good enough for what NJ wants.
 
oh come on, @Zajacs Bowl Cut you and I both know Sissons would excel under Keefe.

You can expect to hit on value trades if you don’t take risks

What would the Devil's offer for Coleman and Backlund? They have great chemistry together and are dynamite both 5 on 5 and on the PK.

I do like Evans a lot, and he has been brought up by a few on the Devils board.

Kraken fans have said he hasn't been playing C nor should we want him there. I wasn't aware of that because otherwise, I like the player a lot.

Unfortunately we wouldn't be able to fit their cap hits. I would absolutely love to have Coleman back somehow though.
