Leo fumbles the puck himself plenty. I think somebody said it earlier that Killorn might have more points himself if not for that. Of course he’d have some more points with better players but I don’t think he’d be playing better. We just disagree big time on this.

Dude, Leo is 19 yo, well just turned 20, has played just over a single full season in the NHL. Killorn is 15 years older than him. Just think about that for a second when you make that comment.

If we get Z back and could add a scorer I actually think while it is a bit of a dream… but not a completely unrealistic one.

Fix powerplay(first 2 help that)

And never play Johnston ever again

And we could be a playoff team… not a legit threat for the cup…. But at least we as fans will start to see the light

People need to pump the brakes a bit and consider that some of these players are teens playing against some of the best players in the world. There will be some growing pains. The complaining is out of control.

But that's part of my point. Yes, Leo is fumbling the puck more and more. Could be confidence, could be frustration, could be playing through injury, could be all three. I think we all know he can handle the puck better than this. The problem is we've got the problem getting worse with him and the problem keeps getting worse for Killorn who I'd argue is getting worse and worse when it comes to mismanaging basic plays with the puck, on top of his idiotic dump and chase attempts when Leo and Leason are nowhere near close enough to chase after the puck behind the net. One good 2 on 1 assist doesn't erase that. The problem is Killorn is a long time veteran who should be the stabilizing presence on this line. Instead he's only expounding the possession woes of his line by routinely making stupid decisions with the puck. Again, Leo needs to work on his own individual frequency of mistakes, but he has less of an opportunity to do that because the veteran on his line is constantly coughing the puck up. And it lends to a total lack of chemistry between the two along with them having to defend a lot more.

This is our second overall pick. A kid whose flashes of talent are indicative of a top line talent, maybe even franchise player if everything comes together for him. We can disagree big time. To me, my feeling is that leaving Leo with Killorn is not helping him if the goal is to benefit from playing with a veteran. The way I see it, the two sharing a line together is making it that much harder for the kid to put it together and it seems to be impacting his confidence and frustration level. To me, with a kid that has this kind of potential, yes...he needs to be accountable to himself, but the team should try something else because Killorn as a partner is counter-productive at this point.

I had serious doubts LaCombe was going to amount to anything and thought he lacked hockey IQ. Boy am I glad to be looking so wrong. Sorry Jackson!!
He was always an nhl guy with top 4 upside, I just didn’t know if he had much more room in terms of upside

He always struck me as a Jack of all trades master of none.

Turns out he’s a Jack of all trades, master of all trades

I will be happy if they can end up outside the bottom five and really happy if they get out of the bottom 10.

I;m not concerned because right now Leo is miles better defensively than the Bedards, Celebrini, Michkov;s and Fantillis around the league. That 3rd goal, was from a defensive play chip out of the zone he made to spring Killorn, and led to the LaCombe goal.

This. Outside of occasionally throwing the body, he fails at the only thing he could possibly be good at, being an enforcer. He (almost) never does shit when our boys get run.

Idk bout celebrini…. He’s the best young player in the nhl imo. Actually amazing.

But carlsson will be fine, he’s still growing into his body.

There’s got to be a more capable guy that can do the enforcer thing, but also play productive mins for the team

Who the hell did he play with just as much? I feel like he’s been stapled to Killorn ever since they tried them with Gauthier in camp.
No one. Killorn is by far his most common linemate, so that’s probably where the perception comes from (I was also surprised). It’s just that Killorn is his linemate in combos that amount to half his ice time.

I’m not sure why you brought up an age comparison here but just generally some people have lower expectations for a 2nd overall pick than I do I guess (and a handful of others in the point prediction thread).

I actually couldn’t care less about his age, top picks have had a lot of success early on. It’s fine if Leo’s a late bloomer and I’ve said ad nauseam that I’m not concerned LT, but he hasn’t been good this year. He’s either barely met expectations or has come up short (still over half a season left)

We need to play consistent every night... Tonight we were only good in the 1st. Can't play like every game...

But this is how we've been playing most of the season. We're relying a lot on our goalies and individual extra effort to score 3 or more goals. That's why I post the Natural Stat Trick shot metrics as proof after the games to show it's our goaltending making us win games. I don't think it's sustainable.

The plus side is we're not 100% Dump & Chase offense anymore. None of the goals tonight were due to dump & chase.

In terms of actual on ice play, I'd say so. I'm happy he's gotten three points in three games but two of them are secondary assists. To me, he looked better to start the season but his play has been declining, especially after the injury. So maybe there's something to the "playing injured" theory.
Maybe. To me he’s always had a wrong instinct for passing but I agree that’s worse right now. Injury, confidence, coaching, sulkiness? I dunno.

People are getting mad about this but I’m not saying he’s a bust or something, I think he’ll be fine and I wouldn’t make that call this early. I’m just pointing out that he sucks right now and I think that blaming Killorn (or Leason or Gauthier or whoever else he’s with) doesn’t get at the root of it. He might have another point or two here or there but he’d still be throwing the puck away for no reason and losing battles he should win.
