Or he ius just injury prone and not in great shape. To blame the coach for his injuries is off base to me. Sam isn't anything special and I do not think he is a #1 goalie. If he can be a good backup you take it at this point.
For the next few years, the Flyers goalie situation doesn't look all that good. The 3 they have now are total question marks at this time.
Tortorella is just a clown. He knows less about his goalies than he knows about offensive hockey, which takes a lot. According to Jackie Spiegal in today's Inky,:
"Tortorella was unsure if it was a recurrence of a LBI that caused him to miss two games in early November and, after a reaggravation, another eleven before he returned against the UHC on December 8."
Additionally Tortorella said, "The way it's gone for Sam, it's a concern. For a goalie, going through some of the injuries that he has, it's not just getting healthy, it's just mental."
So the dunce behind the bench has no concept of when or when not too play an injured goalie. Did it last season and did it again this one. Then he claims it's a mental situation when a player has a physical problem.
This Flyers need to get hip to what Tortorella is telling them. He is lost at dealing with the modern game and player. He's the sort of toxic individual who will ruin any organization that he's around. It's why he was voted the most hated coach in the game
