It depends how you defne "best". They both were the best players during the playoffs. But if it is about overall, then they are obviously not the best players on their teams. But as not even Brodeur or Roy apparently count (with other stars on their teams), what is even the point of such a question? There is no cup team with no good players, not even the best goalie in the world can carry a team without any good players. The closest thing is probably Hasek for Buffalo then.

As I said above

The best payer does not always equal the guy hot at the time. In fact, I would say, it normally doesn't. Quick and Thomas are/were excellent goalies. However, neither was the best player on their respective teams.
