Conn Smythe winners are often goalies. And who the hell cares if a guy got hot?

Chara is pretty obviously a better player than Thomas. Doughty is pretty obviously a better player than Quick.

The goalie getting hot at the right time ≠ the goalie being the best player on the team.

Meh pretty biased way of looking at it given that a very high percentage of the time the reason a time will win the cup has a lot to do with the goalie played very very well. You filter out all the terrible Fleury performances and keep the good ones because obviously if you play that poorly you won't advance

Really? Because the Ranger Islander games I remember and really enjoyed had two talented teams that knew how to execute the fundamentals of the game. I see none of that tonight.

What I see here are two teams, each trying to suck less than the other in order to grab 2 points.

I agree with what you're saying though. I'm just making a point that goaltenders usually are one of the best players on the team. Can't have swiss cheese in net and expect to win a series.

It depends how you defne "best". They both were the best players during the playoffs. But if it is about overall, then they are obviously not the best players on their teams. But as not even Brodeur or Roy apparently count (with other stars on their teams), what is even the point of such a question? There is no cup team with no good players, not even the best goalie in the world can carry a team without any good players. The closest thing is probably Hasek for Buffalo then.
