Yep, either Gallant's game plan was wrong or the execution just wasn't there. The Rangers allowed Vegas odd man rush after odd man rush and to run the play exactly as they wanted.
It seemed that Vegas picked up on how we were getting through the neutral zone with chip plays off the boards to gain speed entering their zone and they adjusted to that. Then it was turnover city after that at their blue line and forwards were continually getting caught on their transition.

Our forwards combined for 13 shots on goal. 13. And 5 of those came from Kreider alone. No shots at all from Strome, Laf, or Gaut. Only 1 shot from Kakko. The Hajek/Jones pairing were an atrocity. Goodrow played his game well, but he also finished with the highest TOI/G among our forwards. That's a recipe for disaster. Literally nothing went right with this game, and it looked like it all started with a lack of effort/heart. At one point, early in the third, they showed a shot of the Vegas bench, and Nicolas Roy was literally dancing to the DJ music (I think it was an Elton John song). That should have been seen as an insult--that the opponent wasn't even taking them seriously. But this group was too busy staring at their laces. The body language of this group is just ridiculously bad when things don't go well. This is the kind of game where we really miss a player like Blais. Ugh. Just need to bleach it from the brain and hope that it can all be chalked up to the start of west coast traveling.

I just figured Trouba saw a way to get out of the game 2 minutes early. They stopped playing a good 35-40 minutes earlier, so why not get out first and beat the traffic? :)
He takes the Deuce because he likes double decker buses and sitting on the top floor to gaze out the window.

And they anticipated our D-men when they attempted to pinch. They anticipated our entire game plan and the Rangers played right into it. The best chance with this approach was to take the lead and then counter attack on Vegas, but why, as the away team, play into their style on their home ice?

This team is allergic to playing simple and shoot by volume, shoot for disruption, shoot for rebounds

It's beyond maddening. Thank God I was at the rink most of the night for my son's hockey. I caught most of the third and couldn't believe how much the entire team looked like they were just going through the motions.

Well it doesn’t help that they went to Vegas a night earlier, most likely to party lol

Hajek is bad, we’ve know this. Jones was also brutal, idk why people think he’s 100% ready, it’s clear he needs/needed seasoning in Hartford

And if Shestyorkin isn’t bailing them out, they won’t beat these better teams. Just reality

Games like this are why you don’t plan a parade for being in “fIrSt PlAcE”

This team cannot consistently beat the better teams in the league. That’s just a fact at this point. They looked like an AHL team out there vs the Knights.

Penguins three points back with 2 games in hand and way easier schedule.

next stop: wildcard.

Went to sleep 1-1 with shots 12-11 for Vegas.

Wheels fell off after tying it?
Yeah same, I think it was 1-1 with shots like 15-13 or something. I missed the first playing FIFA because I thought it was a 10:30 start and tried to put it on at 10:45. LOL.

That's the good thing about West Coast games, if they turn to shit you can go to bed and not worry about what you're missing. Although in this case I actually thought it was going to be competitive till the end.

Team struggles against fast teams. They constantly get exposed with odd man rushes. But hey, at least we out hit them 3-1, right?

There really isn’t any burners in the East to worry about though. Plus when the playoff starts speed gets through out of the window with the amount of interference you can do.

The big problem is the kids just cannot produce. It’s time to trade one or two for some veterans who are proven.

Stinker.

I thought Mika had a really strong first period and then fell off in the second.

Vegas's team speed, transition play and drive to the net - the Rangers could take some inspiration from that. Relentless.

Too bad for Jones, im expecting Nils to be back in the lineup for the next one. He got exposed on a couple of goals. Same could be said for Hajek really, though he had some nice defensive plays.

Strome line couldnt sustain any zone time. Laffy is a tad late reading and reacting on the forecheck and with Goodrow not too fleet of foot its hard to sustain anything against a strong team with a mobile D that can move the puck quickly. With Bread there, he turns a lot of pucks over and keeps a lot of plays alive and even when Hunt is with Strome he is dog on the puck and consistently drives the play deep. This is precisely where Laf's "pace" needs to increase. It will come.

Was hoping for more from the fourth line. There wasnt enough supporting of the puck from all of the lines but the fourth wasnt able to generate much havoc. Forget shots and chances, they just needed to get some cycles going down low to stop Vegas from skating with the puck

Georgiev looked really solid to start but looked rattled after that Janmark goal. Hopefully he doesnt fall into woe-is-me Georgie, because with Igor out we are gonna need him.

I'll admit i didnt watch much of the third because it was after 1am when I finally got to watch it after my own game.
