I expect him to skate well enough to defend. He doesn't. If sucking is fine, then he's been more than fine. The standards are way too low around here. A team's 4th line cannot spend 80% of their night chasing the puck around the D zone; these guys do. He is not the only culprit, Rooney is surprisingly poor without the puck also.

He most definitely skates well enough to defend. His center is brain dead and is a giveaway machine. Not much you can do. When everyone was healthy and we had goodrow and Rooney on that line it was very good.

I just figured Trouba saw a way to get out of the game 2 minutes early. They stopped playing a good 35-40 minutes earlier, so why not get out first and beat the traffic?

Vegas was wise getting rid of him, and there’s a reason he was scratched for some playoff games last year, he can’t skate, and his line just gets buried.

He’s a great guy for the room, but there’s no reason to play him every night.

The hard truth is that Reaves is well past his prime, and I've always thought that Gallant got him mainly for leadership and to set an example because he always hustles out there. And he can still be an enforcer and get into the heads of some players who don't like contact. But, yeah, he was past his prime last year and so with sadness the VGK had to let him go, though he remains one of the most popular VGK players in the franchise's short history.

Late game by an East Coast team on their first game of a West Coast roadtrip, against a team that plays a wide-open speed offense .... yeah, that's probably not going to turn out well.

The blessing here is that the entire 4th line and 3rd pairing that gave up 30 shot attempts, 15 shots, 4 goals, and Louisiana back to France can be scrubbed and banished in whichever capacity. Vegas road game where the top 6 was fine enough.
