Marino is such a game changer. His speed is one thing... but his balance is what makes him be able to use it side to side. His balance is unreal.

Not just that. It's his nerve. Beyond skating to pressure, which as you've noted he does unlike anyone on our blueline outside of Letang, he just has incredible nerve. He just does not **** his pants when he's got one or two guys defending him tightly (unlike our 5.5M per defenseman, for example).

I want to say again that I'm very interested in upgrading Petts to TJ Brodie after watching him this game.

I'd pay a premium to do it too with the intention of resigning him.

But he skates well

Pens a bit off the gas pedal right now

Just absorbing attacks instead of being overwhelmed
Simon skates well, but he's 100% a product of Crosby when it comes to his production and it's pretty much fact at this point. I really don't want more of that type of player on this team, where if he's not with Sid, he's useless, because that's pretty much Dom Simon. Dude is flat out useless.

Without question. Over the course of a season, it saves the defensemen a lot of lumps. Easiest way to keep a blue line fresh is to have a goalie that can set them up for clean pick ups - or in Jarry's case, just break the thing out himself.
Pens were what, #1 in the league for taking hits? When you aren't getting murdered behind your net because MM and CDS suck at handling the puck, it makes for players lasting longer.

Of course, those that are able to, because hot damn this team is made of glass.
