Understand Zucc's not playing tonight. If the Rangers lose tonight though and it's a typical Rangers letdown game, Torts needs to find a way to get him in the lineup Saturday.

Have a bad feeling again. Think we need a God-like performance from Hank tonight, and muster up a gritty 2-1 road win. Otherwise? This could be bad.

Well, it will be interesting. If the Rangers don't pressure Ottawas point men(like they never do), it will be an ugly game.

Ottawa is going to be cutting off the passing lanes along the wall in the Dzone.

If the Rangers continue using the hard around or throwing pucks along the boards: Ottawa will just get the puck at the points and hem us in our own end. Then, they will tee up on Hank all game.

If the Rangers show composure on their breakouts, and are careful moving up ice: Ottawa may have some problems.

Knowing Torts, I'm betting the former more than the later.

He rewarded the 4th line with power play time the other night. The fact that Hammer never made it off the bench in that sequance speaks volumes.
I actually like that he sent out McDonagh for that. I'd like to see him tested as a point man especially if he can replace Girardi (Keep him away, FAR AWAY)

You make it sound like they have 12 guys playing at a high level right now and it would be tough to scratch one to get Zucc's in.

From Torts perspective, it may very well be the case. What's he going to do with a vertically challenged, slow skating European?

That does not compute with the robot brain of Tortorella.

The way Torts sees the lineup? I'm positive that's how he's thinking.

Otherwise Boyle, Pyatt, and even Miller, would be long gone.

In March, you know how many points those three have combined? ONE

You forgot powe, a whopping 0 points on the year.

3 guys to get one point. looks like one is not such a lonely number after all.

I forgot a lot of people, unfortunately

Didn't include Powe because Torts has shown he'll shorten the bench by cutting his minutes, or even scratching him (two games in a row now for Newbury).

Newbury, one point in those two games.

Asham as well :naughty:

ZING, halpern and powe

I also find it hilarious that Torts is threatening to shorten the bench if Stralman or Hamerlik isn't playing well.

Don't we have like 10 games in 18 days? Wouldn't it be the worst idea possible to shorten the bench of your Defensive corps?

Torts logic.

Torts has shortened the bench on the second night of a back-to-back.

Looking forward to a good NYR/OTT game as usual fellas.

Any word on Staal? I know he's not playing, but what's the prognosis?

Has been very quiet from NYR management as has been the norm for injured Rangers players this season. I suspect one night we'll go to sleep expecting the worst, wake up and he'll be on the ice for AM skate in a full contact jersey ;)

That's a terrible statistic between Boyle, Pyatt, Miller. 1 point in March lol.

I'd like to give Miller a pass here though since he is a rookie, and he actually creates chances. I'm pretty sure Boyle purposefully loses puck battles and turns it over so he can throw a body check and skate back and block a shot to get into Torts good graces. It's ridiculous how anemic the offense is with him on the ice.

And please don't say that Richards played better with him on the line. Boyle had a minimal to 0 effect on Richards last game. Kreider and Richards look like they have a bit of chemistry. Maybe putting Gaborik on that line will spark him. A rejuvenated Richards will surely help Gabby get out of his funk.

Pretty much. Nash could have been dead and we wouldn't have known, then one morning he's on the ice and back in the game the next night.

Ottawa has been a thorn in the Rangers side the last few seasons so lets reverse the trend!

“@NYDNRangers: Guy asks Torts if #NYR want to carry over strong win vs. Philly: "No. We want to end it right there and lose tonight. Yes, of course we do."â€

“@NYDNRangers: Another reporter asked Torts what he thought of "Mike Richards." Torts said: "He doesn't play here. Brad Richards?" Good exchangeâ€

****ing LOL. :laugh::laugh:

I usually hate some of the rudeness of Torts.

But, in that case, what unbelievably lazy, stupid question. The reporter didn't even frame it like "What can you carry over from the philly game tonight?"

I love Torts. And my God, how stupid can these reporters be?
