I'm guessing the zone time shot statistics are heavily in factor Skjei-Shattenkirk that period. McDonagh-Holden was dragged down by Holden. I thought McDonagh played a very spectacular first period. Smith had a few bad moments but okay overall.

Completely pwned that period. Can't pass the puck out of our zone anymore. Everyone has figured us out.

At this point you gotta think the reason as to why Nash is getting all these grade A scoring chances is because the opponents know that he can't score to save his life anymore.

Might as well focus on the rest of the FWD's.

I still have a terrible feeling they could make another Cup run.

Meh their analytics are pretty bad.

They're not like the Rangers obviously, but they're pretty bad.
We suck against any team that has a heavy forecheck, just seal the walls, take shots, win puck battles, get puck back to d, fire away, repeat.

Proofread your sentence a little bit. Hope you don't mind.

I mean they're not far off.

The power creep in the NHL is clearly headed towards teams that are like 7th to 13th in corsi, xGF% etc.

The teams at the very top don't score consistently.

I think logically this makes sense but it assumes you have smart coaching which is probably not a good assumption. Theoretically if a coach recognizes his team doesn’t have top level skill he should try and mitigate that by having his players throw pucks at the net as often as possible to try and create deflections and bounces in front.

As they say, it's never a bad play, but you're also relying on luck to significant extent to get those deflections and bounces and that can come and go as it pleases.

That's how a team like the Kings is boring and mediocre for five years and they win the Cup out of nowhere twice.
