Man, does tonight’s game illustrate how badly this team still needs a draft or two loading up on forwards to build depth throughout the org.

Can always trade for forward depth with some of the excess defensive depth we have.

I hate seeing plays like that. McKegg skates into the Sharks zone to pressure the puck carrier. Stops in the zone and just watches the play. If the Rangers get control of the puck he is offsides. ****ing skate! always move to the next play.

Seems like Allaire teaches them to “kick out” rather than “eat up” pucks. It’s not necessarily wrong — but it can be risky if your teammates aren’t there to recover the puck.

Rebound control is also affected by the angle of incident of the shot, the flatter the shot [i.e. straight], the flatter the return [i.e. juicy rebound], and that issue has more to do with the defense being putrid as a unit.

I don't enjoy the Rangers D on dumpins allowing the opposing forwards to get inside position on the puck, which is fine since you don't want to be first in and be swallowed up by a forechecker. But then fail to check the guy who gets to the puck

Smith has his uses as far as his versatility and willingness is concerned but overall, having $6M going toward McKegg, Haley, Smith as the substantive part of our 11-13th forward on any given night is not ideal.
