You needed to shoot that Sid.

I really wish Sid had more of a shooter mentality a lot of these times. That was a perfect example of when he was literally in the slot with a clear shot on net and he passes it off.

IMO, he does that a bit too much. I liked it better during his Rocket Richard years when he'd take shots like that instead of constantly looking to pass.

Sid has been passing up those kind of shots since '05. He makes great moves and wastes them passing to whatever boob is on his wing at that time. I'd imagine the OV vs Sid debate wouldn't be as close if he actually shot most of those instead of wasting them in the feet of the Andy Hilberts and Dom Simons of the world.

Hate to pile on you

but Its the year 2055 and @Pens x is posting on the forums about the year the Pens let the great one McCann go and how we played the Kraken that year and he tore us a new one.
Haha at least it won’t take me years to see hiring Hextall set the team back years.

That doesn't even make sense.

For Hextall to set the franchise back years, that would mean he's trading away futures ala JR which he has not done and I highly doubt will do. The biggest complaint you could make is that Hextall may not try to capitalize on the last gasp of this core. If Hextall does little/nothing then he is actually helping the team in the coming years. Unless you're mad that he hasn't traded everyone that's good for picks, which isn't fair to this core and team that has shown they're still at least a playoff team as is.

Love Heinen-Sid-ERod. That line waa good with Simon instead of Sid, so i can only assume it’ll be right.

Not thrilled that it means Kap-Carter and Zuck are likely back together.

I can’t believe Crosby didn’t shoot immediately from the center ice face off

I guess more so we will be frozen in time under his reign of incompetence. He won’t make the moves to force a fire sale but also won’t do anything to make moves to go on a run. We will be stuck in this not doing enough either way purgatory until he’s gone. But he will have a long leash because he never signs jack Johnson. The only issue is that he won’t even sign anyone better than McGinn either.

Low risk, low reward GM. He is not going to do anything to move the needle for better or worse. It’s pretty much like having a ship at sea with no captain.

Meh They had some years where they were actually one of the best offensive teams in the league during their DPE run. It’s just that nobody cared/remembers because they’d already gotten the rep as a trap team
You are actually right. I don't remember the years or the numbers but they did have some killer offensive stats in that era. But they were remembered for the trap because that was their identity. That is more than a rep or a truism.

Yeah, that's pretty much what happens when a core ages out. Crosby and Malkin aren't good enough anymore, IMO, to carry a team to another Cup and I don't think there's any realistic move to change that. So you either have to tank for high picks or let it ride out. He hasn't committed to Letang or Malkin yet and if either/or walk then there's a good chance we're going to start seeing those high picks roll in sooner than later. It's the life cycle of a cap league team. If we didn't waste as many assets as JR did trying to plug his own holes, then maybe we could have better young players to try to rebuild on the fly, but that ship has sailed.

Could Sid possibly telegraph his intents anymore than he currently does?
