  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Don’t let BWC fool you. Murphy is a good defenseman, and assuming he remains healthy, will be sought after next trade deadline.
To be fair, BWC is not the only one here to criticize Murphy.

You are right that he will be a hot commodity next trade deadline if he's healthy. Because when he's fully healthy, like he is right now, he's a real solid middle pairing D. Big problem with him is that it feels like he's nursing something at least half the time.

i've been a murphy supporter for a while, i'm just happy for him to see good results on ice for his birthday month is all.

He's OK, but when he's off, he's bad. I used to bag on him a lot, but I've come to appreciate the fight he brings every night on a terrible team. He could phone it in like Jones did, but he's a battler, I just don't think he was ever as good as people claimed him to be.

Weelk Foligno caljed out sone un-named guys saying Hawks need to weed out those who are 'dis-engaed"
...I hope he was not indicating Betsy...who had sone long rotten "dis-engaged streaks (eg after the 4Nations break for many games where hevhatdly looked energized and put up lousy shotscon goal numbers whoch led to little orodiction...you cannot have your key identified pkayers so "dis-engaged"..but maybe given hiscrecent goal scoribg (albeit single goal games) i the last few, maybe he is lokibg "more engaged" now..but INCONSISTENT ENGAGEMENT is just not acceptable from any pkayer...star or bum...

So in finally 11 games would like to see ENGAGENENT from Bedard even if underlying analyrics remain poor ( ie. Seems nit mich we can do to expect him to be better defensively or get any defense fron his line..But ifvtheyvsimply outscore their d-zobe flaws that at least is SOMETHING...but if we get not much prodictuon then Betsy and his line will get heavy dis-engagement criticism...so NO just 1 or 2 shogs ONLY ....rather 3 or 4 orv5va nd scoring on 1vor 2 of those woukd keep the dis-engagenent charges from forming.

The prodiction to mitigate or to dominate in games could cone again just off the Pp and the 5x5 cpuld be a disengagement nightmare..But there had got to be mitigation and not just nothing and weak checking..

Now I am not saying g Fokigno specifically was tabbing Bedard for a poir level of consistent engagement..but too many eye tests I vtoi many just 1 shog games hints to me that better was exoecyedcthiscseason from Brdard..if he gets doninantexbi the d-zone he has to be super-engaged takibg pucks thebotger wY and beibg effective there...not just sniffex out or get shots blocked...he has to take more pucks to thevhigh slit...not just get shoved and stY at the perimeter.

ParicjKane was never that engaged in the d-zone or neutral zone but he mitigated flaws by producing offense...Bedard must at least tonthat More Consistently..

Every nhl pkayer has bad games. Bit you cannot go long stretchesvof 7 to 11 games in the doldrums if did-engagenent.

The standards are different...moreviscecpecyexvofvany pkayer on your top line than a ljayer on linec4 ..

Reichel is no defensive engaged whiz either..but hard for most 4th liners pkaying with garbage wingers to score kich either.
If not expected tovscore mich in such a roke thecengagement has got to be stronger in a checking role..

So maybe Fokigni was hontingvat Reichel too for not performing a rokevproperly.

Yet maybe Fokigno is hibtibg at hinself..case there were games he was so bad too.

Not sure who he was calling out.. maybe Bertuzxi = so hot for a stretch then Nafa for a very long long stretch.. surely that is not engagement.

The teM nerdscto all show up Nd pull on the or together.. cannot have 2 or 2 on the golf course...minds engaged else where..

1 or 2 consecutive "off" games iin a kibg stretch is expected from alk pjayers..but not 7vstraight hames or 12 or 22 or whatever ..

Any player doing that is by definition did-engaged.

Maybe IF alk are engaged in a win effort, the Hawks over-take Nashvile or Buffalo and risk not getting a top 3 or top 4 at minimum?
Howver, the alternative is to dis-engage and so TANK..

So would you rather Bedard Reichel and Bertuzzi all dis-engage in these final 11 games, displaying more bad habits?
Would you rather they go into Tank Commander mode or would that as Foligno is advising,be grounds for having them on the weed-out list?

Holding onto him until next years TDL is good surefire way to walk away with nothing since he is major injury risk

Trade him in summer and be rid of him already. He is a meh player who is leftover of prior regime and should have been traded years ago (Not traded for to begin with I would add)

Exhibit A.

im actual fine with the Blackhawk's to finish on a stronger note. just does not feel like there is anyway SJ does not end up last and Preds are up 11 pts. next is 13 pts to make up in 11 games seems crazy even if we went 7-4 that would be 65 that means preds would need to 1-10 to pass us.

The best advanced stats put up by Nolan Allen and Ethan Del Maestro are when paired with Murphy.

"e"'s added for my amusement.
