I don’t think Korchinski has minimal value right now. Look at Jiricek, the guy drafted before him who looked objectively worse than him. He got traded for basically a full drafts worth of picks. You could get plenty for Korch, and even more in a package deal.
He may have depleting value to the Hawks though. Lev has basically shown he’s ready, and is running PP1. If Rinzel gets here and looks good, he’s on PP2. Having Korchinski on a team with no powerplay time is a waste. He’s also a LD but he won’t get big minutes because Vlasic and EDM have stepped up and are way better defensively than him, so they’ll get more minutes.
So you don’t have to trade Korchinski or lose patience, but he’s being pushed down the depth chart. A deal involving him would be dealing from a position of strength to shore up a position of weakness, which would be forward.
