I think Diaz fits more within AV's system than Klein.

Klein would've been perfect for Tortorella hockey.

Klein has been very good, and actually much better offensively then i ever expected. Your irrational agenda against him in every thread is getting old.

He is extremely steady, a veteran and cost-controlled. He is not a top pairing D-Man, which you seem to expect him to be.

Diaz and he are a great, yes a GREAT third pairing.

McD-Girardi
Staal-Klein/Stralman
Diaz-Klein/Stralman

Is easily one of the best in the NHL. We need to get rid of Stralman and bring someone in who can replace him at a fair price as well.

Honestly and I say this really not trying to be a huge jerk, but you really don't seem to grasp the concept of a solid D-Man as you have hated Klein since he got here and in every game he's played.

Not every D-Man is going to be McD.

The Devils just murder hockey. Literally every game they're in is boring. :shakehead:help:

3 stars coming up.

If the Devils scored in the 1st minute, they would be content to sit on the lead for 59 minutes and win 1-0, horrible hockey

I had to chime in here, went to the game last night, lots of fun, felt like a playoff game. Both fanbases were kinda quiet until the third I guess because of the score. I'll say this though, walking outta the Pebble after a win is one of the best things you'll ever feel. I did see a funny altercation leaving I saw a guy in a motor wheel chair taunting a Devils fan with a hard hat and flashing goal light, he said nice hat is it plastic and did you get it at Toys R Us?

That's what happens when you follow stats religiously. He was so against the MDZ trade, funny we've actually had 3 solid pairings since MDZ got traded. I was terrified every time Moore-MDZ were on the ice together early in the season.

Even if McD has been better than Hank this season, this team still thrives or dies with Henrik Lundqvist. Whether you want to admit it or not, Lundqvist is the rangers.

i mean the guy makes the best smoothies. of course he carries this team! Where do you think the energy has come from the past two games???

Hank is the best Rangers goalie of the last 50 years.

McDonagh is arguably the third best Rangers D of that time period.

Two pretty fine players.

I think AV inserted him for offensive zone draws often, to protect/leverage him. I dont remember him having to defend a ton but maybe that just means he did a nice job.

At the end of that 3rd period PP everybody is talking about, there was a 1vs1 break-away he handled really well (no shot).

I really enjoyed those last 2 games. It was kinda "uh-oh" after that Senators game, because our defense had sucked for quite some time. NJD and CBJ are both defensively solid teams, and I wasn't sure we'd be able to tighten it up. Team proved me wrong. The other aspect of those wins is, we won in a way I haven't seen us winning al season. Gritty, balls out, dirty, defensive hockey. This style of play will be highly important if we make the playoffs.
Also, Diaz looked very solid in his first game here. I really hope he can keep it up. If Moore returns, it's hard to imagine Stu Bickel was a somewhat regular defender as recently as last season. He's now 11th in our depth chart.

Once St. Louis gets his goal, he's going to absolutely go off after he gets it. Should be right in time for the playoffs. Can't wait. He's a ticking time bomb getting ready to carry his team through the playoffs.

If I'm Stralman I'm starting to sweat. I'd like to see mistake free hockey from Diaz for a couple more games this year before he's anointed Moore's replacement, but he looked pretty good out there. Steady, smart, quick. Perfect AV defenseman.

I like angry Nash. Can we see him for the rest of the year?

Seasons over! Seasons over!

you're right ! it isn't over.....there are 10 games left and Washington is only 3 points back. Luckily the BJs lost today but they are only 4 points back with a game in hand. If we fall out of a metro playoff spot and into the wild card Toronto is only 2 points behind us and Detroit 3 points but with 2 games in hand. Hopefully Minnesota takes care of them tonight in Detroit considering they lost the 1st of the home and home last night. Nothing is set in stone yet.

Not over yet, but we do have a 94.4% chance of making it according to this site:

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL.html

And an 83% chance it's not as a wildcard. We still have a very good chance of getting the 2 seed, only 11% worse than the 3 seed.

in the end i'm hoping we can get the number 2 in the metro and have home ice against philly. I think that is realistic. Philly has 2 games in hand so we would definitely need to beat them Wednesday and beating coyotes before would certainly help. I think for us to have a chance at # 2 we would need to go 7 - 2 - 1 in the last 10 and hope philly drops off a bit

a run of 6-4-0 and we're virtually in the playoffs, according to this site. vs PHX, vs PHI, @ CGY, @ EDM, @ VAN, @ COL, vs OTT, vs CAR, vs BUF, @ MTL.
PHX is playing for the playoffs, PHI for home ice. CGY and EDM are done. As are CAR, BUF and OTT. Possibility, that VAN is done by the time we meet them. COL is playing for home ice, but at the time we meet them, they could be cemented in that 3rd spot in the Central. MTL, yeah, I know it's the Bell Centre, but that defense doesn't look all that good.
That gives us at least 5 opponents who have nothing to play for. We can lose one of those, but if we don't out-hustle them, I'll be embarrassed.

ehh...I would put Leetch, Park, Zubov, Greschner, and even Howell, no doubt before McDonagh if we are talking last 50 years. Howell won the Norris in 67 before Bobby Orr blasted up the standard of the offensive dman. At the moment McDonagh is playing well but he still has a lot to prove over the course of a career.
