  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
you mean since they drafted possibly the top 5 goalie of the modern generation of hockey? They went from Bishop who had Vasy backing him up, to Vasy starting. A 23 year starting goalie who just dominated. You support him with veteran presence. Now, we have drafted Ingram and Martin off the top of my head as drafted goalies, maybe Martin was a FA signing, but them developing or playing in the NHL didn't fit our timeline of pushing for cups. Having Vasy who was playing 60+ a year and coming out with 30+ wins a year, the team decided to spend more money on Defense and Forwards than backup goaltending. It just was lower down the line for drafting since Vasy was so young and stable.

Yeah, you don't usually draft once-in-a-generation goalies all that often or have that all that often and we Had Bish who was amazing and then got Vasy.

I don't think our fans are prepared for life after Vasy.

My point is you should probably draft a goalie every draft. And work hard to draft a good one of course if you're going to do so. The Dmitri Semykin type picks are just lighting draft picks on fire

Too bad Johansson is dealing with an issue, really could use him right now. Vassy wins this game. I woulda started him today and taken my chances in Vegas.
Halverson has 1 bad goal, 3 defense kind of left him out to dry. Would JJ have been better? Probably, game would have been tied at bare minimum. While Halverson is looking bad, I can't completely blame the third string goalie in his first nhl start in like 8 years.

Realistically, the percentage wise, every pick after basically the 1st round is lighting picks on fire. If your scouts believe BPA at your pick is not a goalie, so be it.

Yeah. He has played 12 minutes on NHL ice in his entire life before this game and wasn’t the starter for that game either IIRC. And at least two goals against this game here are not on him.

Fans of other teams aren't wrong when they say we will fall off of a cliff when this core ages out, Because we will. We are looking at some dark days.

Enjoy the time we have left.
Once Hedman decides to hang'em up just trade everyone for picks and stock up for a season or two.

Sure tanking isn't "fun" but what is fun is watching a new team be built and star players form.

At least its fun for me.

I would say nearly every pick after the 3rd round is an absolute crap shoot that equates to likely lighting it on fire. This fanbase should know that you can still get great players in the 2nd and 3rd round. Good to great goalies are drafted later every year. Slukynsky, the kid the Kings drafted in the 4th round in 2023, looks like he could be a dude in a few years. Same with Fowler, who the Canadiens drafted in the 3rd round in 2023.

f***, Dustin Wolf was a 7th round pick who put up elite Dub stats in his 16 and 17 year old season, but fell because he's short. Just feel like our amateur scouting has really dipped since 2016 or so...

I’m not blaming him, I’m blaming JoJos absence and Coop for picking Vegas to go for it

Cool, point out the outliers in the cases. For every 1 hit, there is 100 misses.

Yeah that is where I am at with it as well. Don't prolong us to a more lengthy rebuild time.

When Heddy decides to retire trade it all and build the farm and or picks.
