It's a fact that some players have longer leashes than others. Veterans always get the benefit of the doubt because of seniority. As a young coach, he's trying to prove himself just as much as a new player. He isn't going to sit a guy like Staal if he wants to win the respect of the veteran core. He needs the veteran core to get behind him and support him in building respect from the whole team in the locker room. Did Vinni do anything wrong? No. But he didn't light it up either. I'm pretty sure Howden would've been first to sit but he is doing well enough that it can't be justified. Kreider has 3 SOG in 2 games and 36 minutes TOI. He should sit based on that, but he won't. Hayes got demoted to the fourth line but he's back on the second line to start tonight.

More and more I'm curious about what the actual point of pre-season games are. If we are already at the 11-F 7-D stage the team obviously didn't answer many, if any, of the roster decisions they had coming into the season

Namesticov should be in but Letteri shouldnt be coming out. Maybe Letteri has an injury, only thing I can think of.

Im here for the outside the box thinking. Let’s get crazy.
Exactly. It's Game 3 of a rebuilding year.

Reactions: Vinny DeAngelo
Rooting for ADA (and Namestnikov) to do well with Howden and running the PP2 unit. I liked Quinn moving Chytil to PP1 to join Zibanejad’s line and Spooner with Hayes’ line on PP2.

So, from what I’ve seen so far, McQuaid gets beat on regular basis at the blueline. I have not been impressed.
