There are a tonne of games coming up, so sitting a guy for a game here and there isn't the end of the world, I think it is genius.

Heinen has hit the wall so let him sit and see from up to, a lot of the time this move makes a player play better in the long run.

Gryz was said to be banged up so let him sit a game, and see how Holden does, the time is now for resting these guys.

Gionta and Holden are going to factor in a goal and an assist somehow tonight. Might be one of them or both. But it's gonna happen. I feel it.

Call it witchcraft on Giontas part. But that's what I feel. A 'nor easter is approaching. We've got this!

Go Bruins!

Well Ryan Donato outplayed Gionta by a pretty obvious margin. So maybe this is a way to measure how Donato would do at the NHL level. If Gionta can still be reasonably productive...then get that Donato kid here asap.
I'm only being half-serious...

I'm totally okay with what Bruce is doing here. I honestly don't care if we come in first, second, or third in the Atlantic, and we have room to tinker. Mix up the line combos. See what the new players can do. See if there are any new chemistries to be formed. Yes, some of this you can do in practice, but nothing will prepare the team for the playoffs like an actual game.

And if we're going to muck around with lineups, why not against the Pens? Points we give to them essentially go into the void. Invest now, and hope to get a nic return in the future - specifically in the playoffs.

Plus, we'll get sour grape points...if we don't win, it's because of Bergeron injury/players sitting out who we could have played.

It only makes sense to me to pass the popcorn bowl on the 9th floor among the players who've played almost a complete season - at least at this point. If we lose two in a row...sure, go all out and stop resting players. There's got to be, what, 15 games in March? It'd be great to see 10 different players get at least one night off, whether it's a healthy scratch or an unexpected injury.

This is a great way to view it, especially since practice time is going to be limited for the team from here on out. It's basically a game every other day, so there isn't going to be a lot of time for Cassidy to try things out in the safe practice environment. I will still hate losing to these hated teams like the Pens and Flyers, but if there was every a time to tinker and try to get the team optimized for the playoffs, it is now.

He is far from "elite" He should be sitting instead of Griz tonight. He's been as bad or worst than Carlo in his own end.

No kidding Mcquaid looked awful the last game he played and guess who his partner was? Krug.

His “offense” is either shooting it into a player or missing the net completely. His elite skill is way over blown. He is good at skating and moving with the puck but his defensive play is below average.

He has the second worst plus minus on defense. Only Mcquaid is lower and Carlo is on par with K Miller

Gionta is playing, wonderful. The dude couldn’t keep up with the play with B squad players and all of a sudden he is going to find speed? Hope he proves me wrong but I am expecting a cooked player..

When I look up "Elite" offensive defenseman in the dictionary Krug's name didn't come up. I will concede he's a good offensive defenseman, not much more. Grizz giving the same time on the PP will produce points as well.
One has 39 points the other 11, not sure if it is PP time making the difference. End of the day Krug is superior to Griz and is really isn’t close

I’m okay with that for 1 game to give Heinen a breather and to take a game in - if Gionta is out there for a second straight game in place of Heinen, without injury, that’s when I start getting a little concerned.

Heinen 3 goals in 2 months. But looked better when moved up. Tough call but we will c tonite I guess.Special teams not better be tough to beat them.Rask though usually good vs them.
