Like I said in the GDT, when you're playing vets to the point where they get hurt, it's a statement of refusal that you won't play young players. AV-level petulance.

He was supposed to be a development coach!!

I get the connection; college, young guys. But in reality the culture in college hockey is that you spam your seniors and the new guys shovel shit until they have enough credits to be in your lineup. Sound familiar?
Machinehead, you have officially convinced me that Quinn is not only not a good coach, but not exactly a developmental coach.

Tell me, Machinehead.

Why is it you think every coach besides Sutter is garbage?

You're a broken record with coaches.
Because most of them suck. Literally every other sport is 4D chess compared to the way hockey is coached. It has to do with deep seeded culture in the sport.

Regardless, what we saw tonight was a unique display even in that context. I don't know how you can't see that. He literally double-shifted guys until they got hurt. What more do you need to criticize a coach??

The thing is every post you've made has been skewered here non-stop.

Okay.

You're right.

Every coach sucks.

Hughes is nothing.

One thing I'll say for the conventional wisdom idiots;

No one blamed Staal for this loss.

He isn’t the right guy for this team.

What was Lafreniere’s TOI tonight? Especially in the 3rd.

I am done with DQ.
Lafreniere:

The team honestly didn’t look horrible. The issue was playing Strome constantly despite the fact he constantly looked terrible. The lack of in game adjustments sealed our fate. We weren’t grossly outplayed and we had plenty of great chances. I’m not mad about the team here like I was in game 1. I’m more mad about how DQ has handled the roster. If a player is struggling, you put players who are playing better out there. I don’t think Strome is dogshit terrible, but he didn’t deserve the TOI he got. Kakko looked great early, yet it seems like he got deflated with how much he was on the bench. Laf just stopped playing towards the end, as in I think he was stapled to the bench or something.

I don’t feel as scared about the team as I did on Monday, but DQ looks to be making poor decisions. Maybe this is part of something greater and the players will buy in and everything, but right now it doesn’t seem like we have a whole lot of confidence. Even if we were destined to lose, I think DQ could’ve made several different and superior decisions to the ones he made tonight.

I’m less concerned about the loss than I am how Quinn is handling kakko Chytil and lafreniere.

Laf on right wing? How’s that a good idea? How’s it make sense to put a kid who’s never played a pro game out of position is beyond me. Not to mention he’s a playmaker playing with panarin who always has the puck. They want Laf to be Jesper Fast

Kakko needs mins. He falls asleep without mins. It’s clear as day and he’s a right wall PP guy. Needs that spot

Chytil played 13 mins behind a guy who sucks and played 21. Chytil actually was 53% on faceoffs. Better than strome. This kid needs mins desperately

Quinn has no use for Goat, bad trade if the gm and coach weren’t together on it.
Starting to resemble some of the soccer teams in Europe ... the owners seemingly playing FIFA with real money and leaving the managers to do the rest.

The entire board agrees with what was wrong tonight and who deserves to play more and who isn't effective with their ice time. Not that difficult.

Bet on the Rangers? Hopefully this is a very tough, expensive lesson that you only need to learn once...

Had the below parlay. A little ahead of myself as I would have needed Mac to score, but jeez this stings. Never again.

PHI -1.5
A. Mantha to score
P. Kane to score
O6.5 WPG/OTT
NYR -1.5
N. MacKinnon to score

Fox is an elite 1D
Ryan Strome is Ryan Strome again
If Mika is concussed we may need to seriously start looking for 2 long term centers
I still think it was an upper body thing like shoulder or arm. If it is a concussion you are absolutely right there is no way this guy can stand the rigors of an 82 game NHL season and super physical playoffs for 7-8 years.

I think every time they've put the PP2 out there they've just coughed the puck up right away? So in a close game situation, yeah, he's gonna think he needs to quintuple shift the PP1.

They need to find a PP2 which makes sense, which for me is bringing DeAngelo back for the PP1 so you have Fox, bringing Strome onto the unit instead of Brett Howden. Weird game, weird night, weird vibes.

Yep, that looks about right for the 3rd period.

Things I continue to wonder...

Why is Buch not on PP1 over Strome.

Why are Chytil and Kakko not getting regular PP2 minutes?

I would rather watch DeAngelo fail defensively at this point than watch Jack Johnson be a turnstile out there.

When is Trouba gona wake up and lead this group?
