Prospect Info: 2nd round - 40th overall - Andreas Englund

Assuming Cowen pans out to be a legit top-4 guy (meaning if you put him with Karlsson he'll fit in on the top pairing), this could be our blue line in a few (two or three) years (if Cowen doesn't pan out, just put in Methot there I guess):

Cowen - Karlsson (shutdown and offence, but Cowen actually has an underrated shot)
Englund - Ceci (Both good skaters, Englund can make the outlet pass or give it to Ceci.)
Wiercioch - Gryba (Another mix of defence and offence)

Guys like Claesson and Wikstrand could maybe fit in as well.

If say this is in three years, age:

Cowen (25) - Karlsson (27)
Englund (21) - Ceci (23)
Wiercioch (27) - Gryba (I don't know)

Of course this is assuming we don't draft a good defenseman in next year's draft where I think we will have a pretty high pick. If Cowen pans out to at least some of his potential, this is good.

We also passed on Anton Karlsson who I was high on, but ill trust a group of highly trained scouts, Who have drafted Wiercioch, Cowen, Ceci, Silfverberg, Lazar, Puempel, Lehner, Prince and Noeson with their 1st and second rounders over my opinions.

McKeown has been trending down all season.

We (for the most part) are not scouts. We haven't seen these guys anywhere near the amount these professionals have. With their scouting record since 08', I think they have earned the respect and trust from fans.

Oh, come on. MASSIVE stretch. Lehner and Silfverberg don't even play the same position as Englund! That'd be like saying, hey, remember that Daigle bum we took in '93? He was a Canadian we picked in the first round. So was Curtis Lazar! He'll be a bust.

Yeah, he's being advertised as a more mobile Hal Gill with a good first-pass.

If he pans out to that, it's a huge score for 40th overall in a bad draft.

Our own Tobias Lindberg (his teammate) even stated he hates playing in practice against this guy.

Well maybe not the last part exactly.. But still Dorion seemed sincerely giddy on the pick, almost to the point of trembling. That's why I believe they were honest when they said that's who they wanted in the first round.

First thing first, people should not expect too much of a 2014 draftee.

Englund has a decent chance to be a NHL player and he was picked 40th OA in a weak draft. Just that would be quite the accomplishment by the Sens drafting/development department

Outside of a dozen guys, this draft REALLY SUCKED.

Grass is always greener to the other side, like when people cry for not drafting Roland McKeown (7.0 D on HF) while Englund is regarded as a better prospect now (and 7.5 C on HF). I think the Sens did really well once again for getting that kind of prospect at that spot in that draft. Nothing to be "jealous" of.
