Happy with Wideman on my 3rd pairing. Very possible that he could break out again with another 50+ point season. My defense isn't the highest end talent but has good depth.

Nicklas Kronwall / Dougie Hamilton
Kris Russell / Mike Green
xxx / Dennis Wideman

Solid depth and I think that is what matters.

if so then I guess the precaution of not saying how great of a pick Slavin was, was unnecessary

didn't want to talk too much about the Canes D or it'd be obvious as to who I am selecting with my pick.

i have both of them 1-2, both can play top 4 minutes and excel. Pesce drafted 2013, Slavin 2012. Slavin has shown to be able to playing #1 minutes, Pesce top pairing. Slavin = more reliable, Pesce = higher offensive upside. Pesce shoots Right which is a + over Slavin but I have them ranked 1-2 and higher than all the D taken since round 7

They were also better than Hanifin this season but obviously Hanifin has more potential

Pesce and Slavin both had good seasons, and both could be great steals. I'd rather stick with someone who's been consistently good over a few seasons if theres marginal difference between them. But at this stage, some risks need to be taken and both of those guys could breakout even more next year. I'd say on a contender they're more top 4 then top 2 players, but good picks nonetheless

Ha! I knew it. As much as the praise for taking Slavin was nice i'm upset you took Pesce, he would have been my next selection....Surprised so few have heard of them. Does no one else do their research or watch hockey outside of the west coast !?

I will be the first to admit that I have not watched a Canes game in about a year.

Even when I did...
I probably see that team play once...
Every 2 to 3 years.
That team is not on my radar...
At all.

Picking unknown guys will only hurt you when the voting comes around.... :/

Because at the end of the day, they are unknown for a reason

Slavin and Pesce are not total unknowns

Also unknowns hurt less than known trash players which is what we're dealing with in these rounds

I think I have watched maybe 3 hockey games (not even start to finish) in the last year.

Follow along with Twitter be the forum for the Canucks but I haven't watched any hockey really.

Maybe 10 games in the last 2 years.

If you haven't been watching lots of hockey, I'll just let you know right now Tavares is bad. I'll be happy to take him off your hands for you to give you some cap relief :D
