The Canucks are likely to protect 7 forwards during the LV Expansion Draft but they easily could easily risk exposing the 6th or 7th forward they would normally protect if could acquire a 2nd line LW whom the Canucks would need to protect instead.

Rather than lose a forward they would like to protect for nothing, which teams are going to be hard pressed to protect all the forwards they would like to protect and who would be willing to trade a 2nd line LW for a Canuck player who will be exempt in the draft?

I'm thinking of Canuck players such as Garteig, Stecher, Subban, Brisebois, Cederholm or Cassels. The Canucks will be expecting a much better, skilled player, but the other team doesn't end up with nothing, but at least a young player with potential.

I dont think you'll get even close to what you're looking for with what you're offering... an unprotected first may get you closer but at the deadline only

E.Kane if Buffalo wants to move him and depending on the price. Comes with risk of course. but fits the age and style of play in a player Benning is after.

Not sure about any noteable top 6 wingers currently available. If we want a cheap option for a 1yr fill in just sign a UFA

tanguay 1yr deal 2m. Hope he can stay healthy and produce close to 50ish pts

Stafford for Cederholm, then the Jets have both brothers. Who will likely not make the big club but still...

You want a 2nd liner for something much less than a 2nd liner. Good luck with that.

Tampa will have Killorn and/or Namestnikov left unprotected and Yzerman will certainly be trying to trade before the expansion draft. However, I think he would get better offers than anyone on your prospect list.

So you want a Top-6 LW for your "potential" players that are not that hot as is.
Exactly what is wrong with the trade board.

Hell
So you expect a team to lose an asset for an inferior one AND still lose someone else to the expansion draft, rather than just losing one person to the draft?

Okay then

The Canucks don't have a deep prospect pool, but the prospects in that pool are mostly well above average, so yes they would be considered hot in most team's prospect pool.

As a non Canucks fan...just sit tight. Don't start trading assets for players. They won't get you where you want to go anyway. You got a nice piece this year in Juolevi. Send him back to junior and embrace the rebuild. You aren't that far away from the bottom...and that's a good thing. 2 more good drafts and you will have a nice little core to build around.

They are well above average??? Really?

Who?

Boeser is a nice piece. Juolevi...looks solid. Demko might be an NHL goalie down the road....after that....??????

If you changed "canucks" to "my team" you just wrote the new mantra for hf.

P.S. if the prospects listed in the OP are the ones you're referring to, everything you said here is patently false.

Drew Stafford seems right in your price range. If you don't mind having your acquisition's treads almost worn off.

I've only ever seen him play RW but that doesn't mean he couldn't play left?

He'd likely sign a 2 year contract and could act as a stop gap until his replacement from within is ready?

I don't know your prospects nearly well enough to know what it would take to get Stafford and or if getting him at the deadline (or midway through the season makes sense)

i could see one of carr, andrighetto, lekkonen, reway or hudon for a flip of first round picks in 2017. should be no more than 10 spots in the difference.
