He likely doesnt want to leave, but even taking $1M minimum is near impossible. They have to let him walk. Also, I believe he takes faceoffs, but doesnt really play a center position defensively anymore.

He’s being paid by Nashville next season IIRC for the buyout, so if he’s not asking for some crazy amount. I can’t see him leaving.

He seems extremely happy in Dallas.

They can move Dumba, Marchment. There’s other ways to open up some space.

100%, but their cap situation is brutal soon. So bad they need to rotate AHL guys in for their 9 games and send guys up and down left and right to save every penny possible. This is their big year to go for it. They get relief in 26-27 then in 27-28. but still likely may lose Robo and/or Harley for picks/prospects.

He’s in year 1 of a team friendly 5 yr deal and coming off a career year.
Recent #2OA with unicorn size and a ceiling he hasn’t hit yet. Seems like one of the least available C’s in the league.

When is it NOT slim pickings for a 2C? Most teams don't have two scoring line Cs, never mind an extra to spare.

Two-thirds of the league would happily swap their 2C for Schenn. Given how this offseason is shaping up, it'll be hard to find a better option.
