Thank God they won.

Of course, they couldn't make it easy. Sure, they somehow managed to lose Game 1 despite dominating. Then they win 3 in a row. Series right over right? Nah

Game 7 and up 2-0 and "com'on", did that shiat Linden goal really happen??? Chip it in, com'on. The great Richter/Post save was a gift from above.

From ectasy to relief they actually didn't blow it :)

Now i can die in Peace - we did it!

The Richter penalty shot save on Bure was incredible...i was in a bar, the only person in there going for NY, and i let them all know about it. Was incredible
That moment very much may have defined the series. The play on its own could be debated as to how big of a save it was in a vacuum, but throughout that entire run when things got crazy Ritcher seemed to just hold the dam together enough so the team would bend but not break. I mean you look at that game/moment and then game 6 against NJ and the Rangers flat out do not win without Ritcher coming up in those moments. He was always a streaky goalie, but when he zoned in he was incredible and they got what they needed out of him.

I can still hear the clank off the cross bar from Leetch's shot in OT leading to Vancouver's gwg in game 1.

I was 20 but in a bar in upstate NY (Cornwall)... couldn't even hear Amirante sing it was so loud in the Garden (yeah THAT long ago)...

When Leetch had that puck on his stick for the 1st goal... it felt like an eternity.

I swear it took him 54 years just to shoot that f***ing thing!

I could go on for hours but what I remember most is that when I finally got home (around 4AM) I stopped to get gas and the next days newspaper was already up with pictures on the cover. I brought home the newspaper and sat and listened to Steve Sommers and I finally called. I told him my next step was going to be my fathers grave the next day to tell him all about what happened.

The rangers won the cup 2 days after the most famous murder I can think of.

Kirk Mclean and Greg Adams, 2 guys who broke in w Devils, it was not a good omen

the series should of ended in game 5 at the Garden

Tikkanan scores a goal from a slapshot at the blueline and the puck goes in, but the knuckle head linesman blows the whistle saying it was offsides, replay clearly shows that is was not off sides
this would made the score 1-0 rangers in the first period

then canuck players purposely attack Brian Leetch and jeff beukeboom is forced to defend leetch and promptly gets kicked out of the game for being a 3rd man in

so during that whole exchange, Rangers lose a goal and Beukeboom gets thrown out of the game, one of the poorly officiating games in history, but at least we won game 7

well we all have our views
to me, NYR lost game 5 on merit - to come back to tie,
just to get careless and fall behind again - shouldn't have happened

i was there (but i knew i shoulda let someone pay $2K each for our 2 seats)

It's ironic in a way...but I spent the Friday and Saturday nights at the bar most weekends , I was 32 . What was ironic was that Gerard Gallant usually always popped into the same sportsbar for a beer or two [the only one in town LOL] . I said hello to him a few times but I was more focused on women , being single, then talking hockey with him and as a rule he was always surrounded by people .

One night him and Probert were both in the bar...LOL...and I stayed away from Probert in case I accidentally bumped into him ...that man was HUGE and a MEAN looking SOB . Game 7 though I spent it at home alone as I was single then and I wanted no company in case we lost ....it was a stressful night but the sunniest sunrise I have ever witnessed !!!

I was able to get a next day NY city newspaper I had bought right after the Cup win autographed by Messier about 10 years ago ....I had hung onto it for a long time as a keepsake never dreaming I would ever get the chance to meet him . But via a Lays Chips Promo...he was in town and I met him . It's a beauty !!! Plus he did a Beckett Magazine for me too . The Stanley Cup was in a tent behind us...but I was so excited I never even thought to ask him to pose with me for a pic with it . I never even went in the tent either LOL...and my wife's Nephew had just had his name engraved on it . .....oh well....I was in a huge daze being in his presence. Hopefully we all can have our day in the next few years once again.....Cheers !!!

I was 7 years old... just on the cusp of being old enough to vaguely understand the significance of the event. My parents let me stay up to watch it live. The things I remember most were watching the national anthem on TV - the crowd was so loud you couldn't even hear John Amirante sing! And the balloons coming down from the crowds when it was all over and the ecstatic look on my Dad's face. I knew nothing about hockey but I still enjoyed all the excitement!

Those are some cool stories. Wife’s nephew—Adam McQuaid?

LOL @eco's bones ....when you see Bob Probert walk down the steps at a local watering hole you look twice and sober up fast . I had a good few in me that night . It was at a different time then the Ranger Cup series . Probert was here for a Celebrity Golf event with Gallant . He was a scary imposing looking figure back then. I don't think he was attending church services the next morning . RIP Probert .

I was 1 year old when this happened, so yeah, I’d still like a cup I can actually remember during my lifetime. Lol
