26th Overall Jake Neighbours

His exact status is probably TBD as they figure out what constitutes a “full” season.

But I’d imagine that there is already some sort of agreement in place on how to account for last season.

Seems strange, however, that we still don’t know how last season is categorized.
I would expect last season would be full season. It’s his first season that might not be.

Pretty remarkable to see. I didn’t expect it at all that he would make it, but Berube seems to love the guy.

Hope he turns into a fan favorite.

Feel like it’s been awhile since we had a prospect surprise and make the team. Good to see, looks like he will be in the line up 1st game.

I think Berube can bring Neighbours along slowly, and not even need to send him back to Juniors (he can't play in The AHL until March). I don't think sending him back to Juniors after 9 games will do anyone any good. I think he'll be able to contribute decently and carry his weight after 15-20 games of being somewhat"sheltered". In the meantime, his development would be enhanced above returning to Juniors. I wonder how hid fare by being loaned to a Swedish Elite League team?

Seeing others posting that he had to turn 20 by december 31, to be eligible for AHL this season?

How long until the "State Farm" jokes start?

In all seriousness, can't wait to see what he can do if he's being paired with Bozak and Barbie on the 4th line! :yo:

I didn’t see this coming. He had a decent year last year in the WHL, but I figured the lack of a full season of hockey combined with a stacked forward group would make it very difficult to even get a 9 game trial.

Very happy for him. His hard work paid off.

well the actor who plays Jake from SF went to Webster University, so there is a local connection for an opening haha

for real tho, i hope Neighbours is around all year, because it would mean he's playing really good hockey

What happends if he plays more than +8 games up? What are options?

If he plays more than 9 games 1 year of his ELC wil be burned. That's it. He can still be sinds down to the Oil Kings if he plays more than 9 games. But as soon as he's send down he can't be called up again untill the Oil Kings season has ended.

So looks like we will burn his 1 year?

Unknown yet. He hasn’t played all 9 of our games so we still have some time and will need to make a decision on who to send down or waive once Sundqvist returns.
