CLARK GILLIES BOBBLEHEAD NIGHT

LISTEN: 88.7FM | 103.9FM | 1050 AM

The New York Islanders look to snap their two-game skid when they host the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday at UBS Arena. This is the second and final meeting of the season between the teams, as the Islanders took the first matchup against the Blackhawks 3-1 at the United Center on Nov. 1. The Isles are 3-1-2 in their last six games with Chicago.
The Islanders have lost two games in a row, with a 4-1 loss to the Nashville Predators on Friday and a 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.
"We did a lot of good things," Brock Nelson said. "4-1, I don't think is an accurate representation of the game. We played hard and had quite a few looks and couldn't get one to go. It's the same approach, focus on a couple small details."
The Blackhawks come into Sunday's game after a 5-2 win over the New York Rangers on Saturday. Max Domi (2G, 1A) and Patrick Kane (1G, 2A) played significant roles in the win.

ISLANDERS NOTES:

- Mathew Barzal scored his third goal of the season against the Predators on Friday. Both of Barzal's previous goals came against the Dallas Stars on Nov. 19. Two of his three goals, including Friday's goal, have come on the power play.
- With Barzal's goal on Friday, the Islanders' power play has scored in five consecutive games, and eight of their last nine, with 10 power play goals in that span. The five-game streak is their longest since scoring in six straight games in December 2017.

- The Islanders set a season-high with 49 shots on goal in Friday's loss to the Predators. Their previous season high was 46.

- Matt Martin's second period fight against the Predators was the 102nd of his NHL career, which leads all active players.

- Kyle Palmieri remains on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. Cal Clutterbuck also did not play Friday after suffering an upper-body injury. Josh Bailey, who was also considered day-to-day with an upper body injury, did play on Friday.

- Cole Bardreau made his season debut Friday, drawing in in place of the injured Cal Clutterbuck. Bardreau played 6:00 TOI, took one minor penalty and had two hits. Bardreau was re-assigned to Bridgeport on Saturday.

- Hudson Fasching was called up from Bridgeport on Thursday but was a scratch against the Predators on Friday. Fasching has 11 points (7G, 4A) in 18 games with Bridgeport this season.

BLACKHAWKS NOTES:

- Arvid Soderblom is projected to start for the Blackhawks after Petr Mrazek started Saturday against the New York Rangers. Soderblom has posted a .905 save percentage and 3.24 GAA in nine appearances this season. Against the Islanders on Nov. 1, Soderblom allowed two goals on 30 shots in relief of Alex Stalock.

- The Blackhawks scored two power-play goals on a five-on-three against the Rangers on Saturday. The Blackhawks power play is 19 for 74 (25.7%) on the season, good for 11th in the NHL.

- Patrick Kane tallied a three-point night (1G, 2A) against the Rangers on Saturday. Kane leads the Blackhawks in scoring with 20 points (4G, 16A) in 23 games. Kane scored his 1,200th career point, and remains in second on the Blackhawks all-time scoring leaderboard.

- Jonathan Toews took sole possession of fifth on the franchise games-played leaderboard with 1,037, passing Bobby Hull.

- Max Domi scored two goals on Saturday against the Rangers. Domi has 19 points (9G, 10A) in 23 games this season, second on the Blackhawks in scoring.

Maybe the youth, future, and core can step up and lead this team past inferior competition on home ice. Let’s see how that goes.

Manhattan
Uppercut the helmet off.

I mean he ran into the goalie and he's still concussed. That makes sense.
He was out of his crease and in his path...sucks for him....But not something that Zeeker should have to answer for.

They also ran Sorokin after that play. If anything we should be sending Ross to board Patty Kane
