5th overall doesn't mean a guarantee of much. He has 364 games in the NHL so far with 165p. I wouldn't consider that a bad pick at #5. Is it a home run? No. But he's a useful depth player. He reminds me so much of Namestnikov with his simple playing style, ability to play wing/center and age.

he can't skate and neither can his brother. we've had these discussions but you can get away with below average skating at the junior and ahl level if you are uber talented. you can't at the nhl level. just aren't going to be able to do the things you are used to doing and if you can't adapt your game you're going to be a Strome. sounds a lot like our 7th overall pick which is what has had me concerned since day one and he's a way worse skater than the Stromes. the game has just gone to another level skating wise in the past 5 years or so.

now back on strome he seems like a smart guy that is trying to become a solid bottom 6 player and getting to play for a professional org like the Rangers as opposed to his two mickey mouse orgs beforehand may really help him become a 25 to 30 pt reliable two way player that can pk and be counted on late in games.

I was so mad I didn't get the trivia, haha. I thought the 3 defensemen with 29 points in their first 50 games were Leetch, Zubov, and Ruotsalainen. Knew Reijo had like 50-60 points in his first year so figured he was a lock. Turns out he had 30 in his last 30 games that year so he only had like 26 through 50 :shakehead (it was actually Leetch, Zubov, and Greschner)

Follow me on Twitter to know the answer to the next Trivia Question! (shameless self promotion, I know hahahaha)

I can 100% see it. It's actually terrifying how similar they are. View attachment 158755
I still think he's just Dr. Steve Brule from Tim & Eric.

Great game guys very entertaining even though my sens lost .

Mika continues to be a Senator killer and your young guy Chytil is a star in the making.

Congrats!
I'm very high on the Sens young players as well. Chabot is gonna a star (if he isn't already), no one needs to explain how good Tkachuk is and will be. Batherson is also a player for sure!

The literal basis of all comedy is to lighten, make light of or mock tragedy.

It's a natural defense mechanism we all have to cope and it's perfectly healthy. It's also healthy to draw your own lines. Based on everyone here I think you're line might be a lot easier to reach than others so idk what to tell ya.

But does the poster who made the comment have any emotional connection to Staal and his tragedy? It isn't as if his injury was a national tragedy. On the contrary, it was simply mean spirited and unfunny.

I don't have any issue with comedians stepping on the line of when and what is funny. Sometimes it works, others it doesn't.

I didn't ask you to "tell me" anything. You chose to comment.

Strome has not looked out of place at all and we all know that a team needs bottom 6 guys to contribute in many different facets of the game. He looks steady at both ends of the ice and he can certainly fill a bottom 6 role something spooner definitely would not be able to do. Very solid trade...probably better than getting a third rounder or lower (which is what spooner would have brought back best case scenario)

@ReggieDunlop68 mentioned 20-45 times that Chytil might need a good deal of strength training to meet his potential in the NHL in his natural playstyle.

Is that a possible idea for him, or should that idea be chucked back into the loony bin trash receptacle?

Wait, did you just @ yourself in a response?

@Edge has never seen that before and is amused by the concept. ;)

I'll repeat what I said heading into the draft, Tkachuk is not likely be the highest scorer from his draft class. But if all the pieces come together, he'd be one of the most unique players in the league.

The fact that the offense has been there this early is somewhat surprising, but definitely a welcomed bonus for the Sens.
