This place used to be happier.

They just played one of their best games of the year against their division rival. Their best player scored twice and is on an absolute heater.

Reading this thread you would have no idea.

Argue the direction of the year all you want, but we should enjoy the wins like today.
Played one of their best periods but hardly their best game. Would hardly call winning by 2 goals when the team had 6 separate 2 on 1 chances a good thing. Go and rewatch them shesterkin was not tested. In the 3rd the coach predictably made them play to hold the lead as opposed to generating more offense and if the Rangers played any better they surely would have capitalized on it.

If that’s what you took away from the game, I see why you’re not happy.

I choose to look at it a different way.

Was ready to be happy when they drafted Matvei.

Then they showed it the same old BS with Briere, Jones, and Torts.

Making the playoffs would be great development experience for a young team, especially if they sell at the TDL. They're not making the playoffs unless
1) TK and Sanheim continue to play like top 1st line/1st pair players
2) Young players step up, from Frost and Farabee to York and Andrae
3) The goalies continue to develop

If all this happens, and they're 95+ point team being carried by players from 22-28 years old, then I don't really worry about draft position. At that point they just need to keep adding young talent, and hit on a couple outplaying expectations.

The wildcard is Zavragin, if he continues to play like an elite KHL goalie prospect, by the team he comes over in 2027 they should be a solid PO team - add an elite goal tender to the mix and anything is possible.
