Hold onto Eriksson unsigned past the deadline.

Bring in one of Hamhuis/Russel for likely at least a 2nd rd. + prospect.

Both leave on July 1 for zilch.

That's where this is headed folks.

How much egg is going to be on Sweeney's face if he goes this path and the Bruins still miss the playoffs?

Sweeney would deserve to look like a fool so I wouldn't even be that opposed to them missing the playoffs. Might make me a bad fan, but I'd be willing to hold that reputation for a quarter of a season.

Imo something like that is only going to waste this year, and set the Bruins back from a sustained period of cup contention by at least one year.

My biggest concern with the Bruins AS IS, is that they could still easily miss the playoffs. I think it's more likely they do miss them, than going past round one.
I don't want Sweeney keeping/signing Loui. Get the prospect and pick.
I don't want Sweeney forking over assets for a D rental. Get a D that is here for at least a couple years. aka Hamhuis

This summer is when we really address needs. Not now.

I hope this is exactly how it plays out.

I'll also say that I'm not excluding the possibility that Loui can be packaged for a Dman and that that Dman might make them net better today than Loui does, but that seems like best case scenario.

Worst case scenario to me is that they keep Loui and add a couple scrubs to feel more competitive as they lose in the early rounds.

Why would Loui sign in Boston on draft day just to be dealt a couple hours later? He'd just wait until July 1st.

Why would a team pay more to Boston for a signed Eriksson under Boston's term when they can just wait until July 1st and get him under their terms.

5th-6th rounder maybe just to talk to him a couple days early, that's the most Boston could get at the draft for Loui's negotiating rights.

I never said anything about him being signed on draft day. I'm saying sign him now IF they can and then trade him after the season. Unlikely at best I know but you never know.

As far as the question about being signed under Bostonian terms.... What makes the difference? Do you really think the contract will be that much different? I don't , if anything it might be a better team contract now then on July 1st.

Edit.. I guess I did say sign him on draft day. My bad but I really meant sign now and trade on draft day.

Every network has them. I found a link to a TSN stream and I just wish it would work while I go to the dentist this morning..

Going to the dentist on trade deadline day. I think you may have found the only possible way to make the day drag out even longer than normal. I can already hear my pc swearing at me every time I hit F5 and the west coast teams probably aren't even out of bed yet.

At least the appointment is this morning and not something like 2 or 3 o'clock .

It was the only way I could get the day off without giving myself up at work. I took the 15th off for good reason but to take another day during this time at the office wasn't going to go over well unless it was a legit reason.

This is promising.

Not sure if anyone pays that price for a rental however.

I just hope it doesn't turn out like Vanek a couple years back, when right at the deadline he went for a 2nd and a prospect.

Not sure either. Looks like Bruins are trying to lure a fish and be able to say that they "tried" to get something in return. We all know how it will end if Loui is not traded today...

Really surprised more people don't see us as contenders in the East.

Even with the weak D we have right now our record against NYR, NYI, DET, PIT, TB, and FLA is 11-4. The only team we have to avoid is Washington.

Adding 1-2 D to this team makes us a contender this year..

TSN just mentioned Seth Griffith as someone the Bruins could possibly move for a defenseman.

I heard that as well. They were just throwing stuff at the wall. That has already turned into the Bruins are shopping Seth Griffith for a defenseman , just heard that on the t&r show

Not that they wouldn't trade him in a package.... Just saying I saw how quickly a rumor starts in a about the time of 2 minutes on draft day.

Sure but those D need to be bona fide top 4 dmen. Names like Shattenkirk, Brodin, etc. You're not getting those guys without giving up other core pieces and thus potentially opening up other holes.

The weak defense can't be overstated. The defense ranges from mediocre to crappy. Mediocre to crappy defenses don't contend for Cups. Ever.

Makes sense.

Both Griffith and Koko are RFAs and would have to clear waivers next season if re-signed.

Both should have decent value given their AHL production this season.

Neither looks like they have a spot in Boston next season in the Top 9 even if Loui is moved on. Vatrano looks to be the next in line if their is a Top 9 spot open.

If there ever was a time to move either of them it is now.

People usually use the word contending as having a chance to win the cup. No one wants to be the 2012 Devils.

Right but if we replace Kevan Miller and a guy like Trotman don't you think it improves significantly? Even a guy like Wiercioch looks like a stud compared to Miller.
